This has been out for at least a few months in Chicago. I like it. I like both versions.

I caught this on one of the music channels at the gym a few weeks back. And I think it's fantastic!

But, I love Seether whereas Wham makes me want to vomit. :D

(Even though I did always like the song.)

I saw Wham! in concert in Philly in '86. When GM came on stage to sing this wearing a black leather vest with no shirt, we 17 year old girls totally lost it! Who could've ever guessed he was gay back then... :?

That's like eight full notes lower then the original. My 79 year old grandma could sing it at that note.

Obviously all you would have had to do is watch the Gitterbug video and then you would have known for sure the dude was on that team. Even Helen Keller would have known that.

I do like Manilow, but I didn't 'care' (get it?) for how he avoided the high notes on his last album. Very noticeable on "Open Arms" of course, and on "Never Gonna Give You Up"

I can't help but notice watching some of those Manilow youtubes, does he even do any of his own songs anymore or has he turned into a Wayne Newton?

Yuk, the vocals are depressing and boring, just down right awful. I need to re-deem myself and listen to Journey.

Here you thought you would start a thread where people would laugh at this version, and look how it backfired :P

Much like Saint John, I think both versions are great.... I do believe Seether's version came out back in February

Been on Little Rock radio for a few months now. I think it's an awesome cover and that band has major cajones for doing it. Just think about all the ribbing they're getting from their hard rock cronies? They are laughing all the way to the bank...and so is GM.

There's another cover out right now in the same vein. Can't think of it...???

This version kicks ass!!! Love the George Michael original too. This is just an all around good song, that's for sure. Great when it's rockin', and great when it's mellow too.

He's been doing mostly cover tunes on his studio albums since '90, so that's a good chunk of his live set. He has so many hits from the '70s and '80s to draw from, but with only 100 minutes it's hard to fit all of it in.

I'm trying to plan a Vegas trip later this year, provided I can line some things up with Manilow's management.

I’m at the exhausted stage of my not being able to see my daughter this coming Sunday for Father's Day & so I’m dedicating this next WHAM song to my daughter’s mother.

I considered starting a whole new thread just for this purpose, but I’m spent & beyond having the energy to maintain it.

Forgive me, everyone, but I’m going to momentarily derail this thread. Will someone please get it back on track?

Delilah, this one's for you:

GM wrote this while in school. He is probably flattered that bands are still covering it almost 30 years later.

It's just such a shock to hear an effing WHAM! song performed in this type Genre   8)

It's amazing how songs can take on a "new life":

I'd just like to add that I think this version flat out sucks ass. And whatever the 'singer' is doing i very much borders on the fringes of the definition of singing. That cat can't hold a candle to George.....

So c'mon....let me have that tired, 'you're a curmudgeon' routine...
