Dunno who Lori is, so IDK is she's stupid or not, but your comment is certainly uncalled for here as well. Why is it that Dean was called on the carpet for his comments, but these were left standing? Neal is a high school drop-out, whose work we've seen here before. And besides, didn't SP get ragged on for making a comment like "my most faithful fans" or something of that nature. Neal (or whoever wrote it) is a buffoon to think that everyone is gonna suddenly forget all of his crap just because he says 'affectionately'.

Sorry, I just see a double double-standard here... :?

Lori is Neal's girlfriend. She is handling the official site.

They debunked that myth a few months ago I thought. IIRC, they were playing around with myspace and changed Lori's marital status as a joke. Did they actually come out and confirm they're married?

No, he was called on the carpet for his remarks about Lori. Andrew said relatives and loved ones of band members are off limits. What double standard? He deleted Voyager's thread re a fictious Steve Perry's blog b/c he thought it was disrespectful.

These metalheads accepting Journey is fascinating. It's got to be a big feather in the bands collective caps. It's a great thing to see.

Are you talking about when they played on Classic Rock day? I thought the festival was all metal but apparently it was broken up into segments. ZZ Top was the big surprise according to a lot of the reviews. Everyone just loved them.

Just got in from the gig and it was awesome again!!! Wow... what a trip it's been for us this time. Went down a storm with the crowd once again chanting Journey-Journey-Journey before and after...
We played a way different set tonight that included , One More, Chain Reaction and Rubicon... since it was more of a Metal show...
Thanks again to all our fans in Spain for your support . It was felt and appreciated....... Another great show to chalk up.

Our Fans are the Best there Is...
Sincerely,
Neal

Dunno who Lori is, so IDK is she's stupid or not, but your comment is certainly uncalled for here as well. Why is it that Dean was called on the carpet for his comments, but these were left standing? No, he was called on the carpet for his remarks about Lori, not Neal. Andrew said relatives and loved ones of band members are off limits. What double standard? He deleted Voyager's thread re a fictious Steve Perry's blog b/c he thought it was disrespectful.

The first double standard is the post above mine. Insults are insults, and it shouldn't matter who they are directed at if the goal is to limit them. Based on our knowledge of Neal's previous work here, Dean had a point about him spelling the word 'affectionately'. And for obvious reasons, it is reasonable to believe that Lori is 'stupid' for being with Neal. His track record speaks for itself, if you choose to use past behavior as an indicator of future behavior. I hope, for her sake, it isn't. Good luck to them both.

The second one refers to the reaction to SP's addressing his 'most faithful fans' vs Neal ending his comments with 'affectionately'. It's pretty much the same kind of thing to me, and Neal doesn't get a pass from me after reading some people dis SP.

In the grand scheme of things, none of this matters. It's certainly not worth arguing over. Been there, done that. Some of us even have a tee shirt or two. 8)

Regarding this, at what point does someone actively involved in the band's affairs cease to be just a family member and no longer off limits? Lori is running the official website, possibly Neal's PR, and she has credit on the Revelation CD for 'Additional Art Supervision'.

When Jeremey H. was posting his "revelations" regarding his experience with the band, he cited Lori not only as the source of his "personality conflicts" with the band, but JSS's as well. His posts regarding the latter were later deleted, but several people had time to read them. I don't know who he heard that from or how accurate the source is, but he can certainly attest to his own experience. Given her active involvement in the band's business, I don't think it is out of line to discuss her, though it should be about her actions, decisions, or influence impacting the band.

hmmm, interesting .... didn't know that before. We've heard Neal(and the band) said a few times in interviews that JSS's personality didn't mesh with theirs. Yet, we also know many people in the business -- as well as the fans -- think the world of JSS.
Makes you wonder why it's always SP that gets the blame for his "personality conflict" with the other guys.

During the press conference in Sweden, when asked what happened with the last singer, Neal again mentioned personality conflicts. I thought it was rather questionable - he worked well with JSS in SoulSirkus and the band members were together for months on tour before JSS was asked to officially join, so had there been any "personality conflicts" between band members, why were they not apparent before? If there weren't any before, what happened to change that?

Dunno who Lori is, so IDK is she's stupid or not, but your comment is certainly uncalled for here as well. Why is it that Dean was called on the carpet for his comments, but these were left standing? Neal is a high school drop-out, whose work we've seen here before. And besides, didn't SP get ragged on for making a comment like "my most faithful fans" or something of that nature. Neal (or whoever wrote it) is a buffoon to think that everyone is gonna suddenly forget all of his crap just because he says 'affectionately'.

Sorry, I just see a double double-standard here... :?

They had a Revelation (pardon the pun) JSS was just not Journey enough for the band. That is the absolute truth and it came from Schon's own lips. The business decision was made and it was a timely one. Journey would not be where they are today if this decision was not made, when it was made. That's a tough pill to swallow, but it is what it is. Far beyond sex, drugs and rock n roll, and a few wives, one finally comes to business decisions and how they effect your estate. :P

 With this band there doesn't seem to be an "absolute truth" - didn't Neal also deny any knowledge of Tapegate and state that if anything had happened that SA "did what he had to do"? I would take everything they actually say with a grain of salt.

...

I had to check your username... you are the same SherriBerry who makes it her function to bring me to task for completely accurate and fully substantiated criticisms of Steve Perry, yes? Because it looks like this was an extraordinarily long winded, poor attempt to validate remarks against Lori Carpenter, who doesn't share Perry's history of deceit, egomania, and narcissism.

But I'm genuinely curious, and you don't strike me as unreasonable, so I'll leave it to you to explain the difference between attacks against Lori and attacks against Perry and why only criticisms of Neal Schon's current wife/girlfriend/lover should be allowed.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

You have a unique brand of subtlety.

Perry doesn't "always" get the blame for the disputes with the rest of the band. Don't even go down that road. Neither Dan nor myself, who are regarded as the most heinous of Perry critics, blame him for all of it.

But let's be frank here: wasn't conflicts with Perry a reason why Gregg Rolie left the band? Wasn't it Perry's egomaniacal need for control what shitcanned Ross and Smith, changed the name and musical direction of ROR to what would be reviled in later years? Wasn't it Perry's deceit that put Journey on hiatus, leaving them hanging so he could go try his hand at a solo album? Wasn't it Perry's narcissistic fear that ruined a rumored reboot with Chalfant so he could reunite the band with Trial By Fire? Wasn't it Perry's jealousy that demanded Herbie be relieved of duty -- the man who gave the man his career? And wasn't it Perry who left the band hanging again and then selfishly demanded that they not carry on Journey?

Please. The man was a prick of colossal, perhaps epic proportions. They are all to blame: Neal's admitted that he wasn't a picnic to be around, particularly given his personal crises and alcoholism; Jon has had problems with Herbie and is rumored to have been a source of contention for JSS; Ross was, according to Herbie, ass deep in drugs and lethargy.

But it's only a crime to lambast Perry. Hell, it's more accepted around here to make personal attacks against Arnel than Perry, which is unbelievable.

Great post but you forgot about Rolie in the bolded part.
