Look back...I said that, as far Pinoys go, that is true. But I'll tell you what...with Augeri I doubt they ever even hit 15,000 in Chicago and last year they had 26,000. They sold out back to back to back shows in Houston, Dallas and San Antonio. They sold out Cleveland. I saw people standing out there in Cleveland begging for tickets because I bought my sister one and paid out of the ass for it. It was a lawn ticket. The Blossum holds 20,000. I don't think they ever did that with Augeri. I know, Heart, the band playing in Naperville, Illinois this year at Ribfest again (yes, that's the name), is the reason.

Well....let's put this into a bit more of a reality-based perspective, shall we?

Arrival was a new singer, and a new CD.....I saw alot of people at the Vegas DVD show.(no, not personally, but I've heard it was packed)

The two subsequent albums sucked ass....can't really keep up those numbers if you can't bring the goods, can you? But the Arrival tour did really well, no? And there was no Walmart deal for any of the Augeri albums, and hardly any marketing at all....

No new album for Soto to sing on....so can't really blame him for not packing in the fans.

Looks like Arnel is getting the gold plated treatment by both the record company, and the band....great marketing, a great Walmart deal. And the benefit of being ethnic.....yeah it is really fair to compare singers....

I don't think the Walmart deal results in more album sale than with a big label, infact, that limits the exposure right there because many people do not shop at Walmart....myself included. I just don't like feeling like I went to a third world country just to save a buck or two. The only time I have set foot in a Walmart in over 2 years was to buy Revelation. The deal with Walmart marketing is that the band retains much more profit than they would otherwise. If revelation had been available everywhere I believe the sales results would show much higher numbers.

Ok, so it begs the question: What sold more, Arrival(major label), or Revelation(walmart deal)?

Rick I understand that, but consider the other stores that could not carry the album. I understand Walmart is Gorilla exposure but at the same time a limitation.

I think the band couldn't pass up the deal. They're getting something like $7.00 a sale compared to a $1.50 they would have gotten with a label.

I'm not a fan of Trial By Fire but one million seems like a higher number than 750,000. What kind of math is Cain using?

The Essential Journey was certified platinum in 2005 also.

I assume TBF sold more. And so it should have, it was an amazing album.

I'm sure that if Arrival had the WM deal then it would have done nearly aswell as Rev.

You have zero proof of any of that. All you have is your obsession/desperation with with Arnel fueling your ambition to front this band as more significant than it is...and then a desperate move to point to Arnel as the missing link.

The audience at the Blossom amazed me! I have been to many concerts the last few years, many of them Journey, and I have never seen a crowd like that. The lawn was over filled. I do know, since I was far away at that venue, that the crowd sat through most of Heart's set, but when Journey hit the stage, they were on their feet the entire time. Journey was the draw that night. And there were non-Pinoys sitting behind us, and I heard a woman telling a couple all about Arnel and his story. So I really believe the national publicity they gave themselves before the tour, by going on all those morning shows, really helped and there were people who wanted to see them with Arnel. Then there were the others who just wanted to hear Journey for nostalgia that you normally have. And the Filipino audience. All of that combined for a HUGE audience. And I am not a huge Arnel follower. I was ready to give up on Journey when JSS was let go. When I first saw him in Vegas, it was more about the gathering than him. But when I saw him, I was amazed at the improvement and how well he fit with the band. And then in Cleveland it was even more obvious how far he had come. All I can say is that audience that night was very happy. Hard core fans are such a TINY part of any audience. Any hard core fans lost were quickly replaced with the new fans. They are not worse off, that's for sure.

Directionally there is proof at least. Best selling tour in 22 years and best selling album in 12 would give Saint John an argument which to build off.

It's conjectural at best....one could make a damn good argument that Journey simply capitalized on the Sopranos bullshite and built off of that. Also, once you remove the bullshit second disc of re-treads and give the disc the *correct* counting it deserves and combine that with the sopranos wave and the pity/poverty song (re: arnel eating bugs in back alleys of manila) that Journey parleyed over the past 2-3 years......you can easily account for at the very least a strong majority of this so-called arneliot success...and none of that accounts for arnel's actual fucking voice....just his social status.

Listen, I'll give the little fucker his due. But let's not crown the fucking 4th vocalist of this band's pop phase as the fucking messiah. That's just fucking ludicrous. Given the right scenario and environment (something the little pinoy twerp has for advantage) Arrival could have sold similar numbers to the TRUE actual units sold on Regurgitations...

The point here is to stop calling this fucking little king of the carpetbaggers the second coming of Steve Perry. He's not even fucking in the same god-damned motherfucking galaxy....so stop it. When people start sucking this pinoy's cock like he's going to turn water into wine, it makes my fucking stomach churn and my skin boil....

holy fuck. They sold 700,000 pieces....people, including Dan, are making it seem like they just fucking recorded Hysteria....not even close...

How can anyone take someone spewing this pinoy-fellatio seriously?

Gawd, Holy Fuck!

All I know is when I read your posts (which you rarely post anymore) they're always so ugly that it permeates the whole site IMO. Too bad. Your posts used to be so funny, sarcastic, and balanced. I know. I know. Just don't read your posts, then.

Don't read em then. Fucked if I care....

My point's still stand, strong and hard like an 18 year old's cock at the sight of a naked co-ed.

The accolades thrust upon poor Arnel are not fitting of the crime...

Frank, aren't you an unemployed accountant? If that's still the case, maybe you can get a job counting Arnel's money.

Was that part of it really necessary?
It makes you sound like you have a problem with a Pinoy fronting the band.

It makes you sound like you have a problem with who's fronting the band based on him being Pinoy.

Of all the naysaying, dark cloud bringing, party crashing, Debbie Downers, Frank's postings are the most colorful for sure.

It's more of the same disgusting bigotry spewed around the rest of the internet. If it's not bigotry, then what is it? Find me the justification for all this hate. There is none. Arnel is simply a good man doing a great job, overcoming many hurdles that most of us have never seen. And he fights thru it all with a smile and without judgement. It's ok to not be a fan of the singer, but leave the other shit alone.

There should be zero tolerance for bigotry of any kind around here. When you start bringing people's race and ethnicity into these discussions, they've gone too far. Obviously, that doesn't excite me a little......

Shut the fuck up Princess. So Frank has a take on this and you and he disagree. My God, you are talking about Journey for shit's sake. They're a fucking band. You take this way too seriously.
