I always wondered what the lyrics to Missing You by Steve Perry mean. Anyone know what the secret was?

That song is Steve's amends to Sherrie for his part in the demise of their relationship, just as Anyway was his amends to the guys in the group for his part of the insanity. I have my theories about what the secret is, but don't know. Awesome song though, the emotion is incredible. IMO, Sherrie was Steve's one true love.

I always interpreted that the secret was the confession that "I was so wrong" and the reason he felt he was so wrong was because he had no faith that she would still believe....believe in what???? well... that's could cover alot of different things however between the two of them, only they know exactly what that means.

Speaking of lyrics, in DSB, the line - "A singer in a smoky room..." I still think a better lyric (which a lot of people do incorrectly sing) would be "I seen her in smoky room." I think it fits the story/song better. If I ever get a chance to met a Jon Cain again, I'm gonna ask him about that and that they might have missed the boat on the line. Fortunately, the song has still done ok for them.
