To Farrah..........

A Cure Was Not To Be
© Ciara

God took a look around his garden and found an empty place
he took a look upon the earth and saw your tired face
he put his arm around you Farrah and lifted you to rest
Gods garden must be beautiful for he only picks the best
God knows that you were tired and a cure was not to be
so he closed your weary eyelids and whispered come to me

People remember her in The Burning Bed &, of course, the Charlie's Angels series, but in the movie "Small Sacrifices" Farrah did a superb job portraying real-life murderess, Diane Downs who shot all three of her own children (killing one & seriously wounding the other two) b/c the married man she was in love had repeatedly told her he didn't want to be a ready-made father. Some critics have said that Farrah's portrayal of Downs in the movie was rather flat & unemotional, but if you read the book or better yet, saw the interview Oprah did with Downs, you would have seen that "flat" & "unemotional" was the right way for Farrah to play that role. Downs was narcissistic & in some ways histrionic & Farrah played her perfectly.

RIP Farrah Fawcett

That's the movie. I couldn't remember the name. Small Sacrifices. I thought she was fantastic in it. You forgot she was Farrah. She became Diane Downs. She nailed it.

Yes, she did nail that role. Very long movie. Four hours or more (I think) but it didn't feel that way. If anyone is a Farrah fan & they haven't seen that movie, it's definitely worth renting. I can't hear the song, "Hungry Like A Wolf" without thinking of Diane Downs. I won't give away too much info, (in case someone hasn't watched it, but plans to) but I loved the courtroom scene where the Prosecutor explained the blood pattern on the towel she had wrapped around her forearm. That sealed her fate, if you ask me.

I would hope that people would remember her. Seems she is overshadowed today. Wonder how many threads would she have garnered if it were later in the week? She had a slow and painful death. :(

It was just reported on CNN that the funeral for Farrah Fawcett will be held on Tuesday June 30 in a church in L.A. It will be a very private funeral with no media allowed in attendance.

I need a sign to let me know you’re here
All of these lines are being crossed over the atmosphere
I need to know that things are gonna look up
'Cause I feel us drowning in a sea spilled from a cup
When there is no place safe and no safe place to put my head
When you can feel the world shake from the words that I said

And I’m calling all angels
And I’m calling all you angels

And I won’t give up if you don’t give up
I won’t give up if you don’t give up
I won’t give up if you don’t give up
I won’t give up if you don’t give up

I need a sign to let me know you’re here
'Cause my TV set just keeps it all from being clear
I want a reason for the way things have to be
I need a hand to help build up some kind of hope inside of me

And I’m calling all angels
And I’m calling all you angels

When children have to play inside so they don’t disappear
While private eyes solve marriage lies cause we don't talk for years
And football teams are kissing queens and losing sight of having dreams
In a world where all we want is only what we want until it’s ours

And I’m calling all angels
And I’m calling all you angels
And I’m calling all angels
(I won’t give up if you don’t give up)
And I’m calling all you angels
(I won’t give up if you don’t give up)
Calling all you angels
(I won’t give up if you don’t give up)
Calling all you angels
(I won’t give up if you don’t give up)
Calling all you angels

Farrah was really something. Although most people thought she was just another beautiful blond pin-up girl, she fought for better roles and when she got them, she blew every one's socks off with her performances. She and Ryan O'Neil had a lifetime love affair each sticking by the other in hard times. Although they separated for a while, they did find their way back to each other. Farrah unsuccessfully fought to help her son Redmond to achieve sobriety. As someone who has dealt with a loved one with an addiction problem, I understand the kind of heartbreak she had to endure. And finally her last fight. Farrah has shown us all how to face sickness and death with grit, determinition, dignity and grace. It is in this most important fight that we see just what a beautiful person she was. My heart goes out to her family and friends.
