But as far as the "Elvis, Jim Morrison & Jimi Hendrix spotted hunting zebras in Malawi" headline back in the mid-90's, as well as the "Satan meets with Hussein at Royal Palace" they just get an "F".

Me neither. Actually I've never even heard his music. Was he the guy on McHale's Navy? Any hit songs?

Legendary vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (TALISMAN, JOURNEY, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) has issued the following statement regarding the passing of pop music legend Michael Jackson, who died yesterday (Thursday, June 25) at age 50:
"Every day the world mourns over the loss of a loved one, a relative, even a pet...but it's not every day the whole world mourns over a single person like they were a loved one or blood relative.
"On Thurday, June 25, 2009, we lost an icon, a legend, a superstar named Michael Jackson.
"I don't think there is a man, woman or child over 5 years old in the world who doesn't know the name Michael Jackson. This in itself is an achievement that is rarely attainable anymore but it shows this man was known for better or worse (in my book, always better; the negative side of his life was always something I always chose to ignore as the MUSIC blanketed this) by EVERY person in the 21st century, and he will be remembered through his music and his legend.
"Of all my childhood memories, many of them included buying my first 45 single (yes, that would be a small 8" vinyl platter called a 'record'!) of the JACKSON 5's 'I Want You Back' to standing in front of a mirror at the ripe age of 5 with a spoon in my hand, pretending it was a microphone and singing at the top of my lungs to every word little Mike was belting out. When my brother Joey and I were about 7 and 8, we would draw crowds at the local boys club of NY as the song 'Rockin' Robin' would be blasted on a record player. Joey would pound on benches/tables as they were percussive instruments while I crooned along to the alto notes of Michael's version. They called us the 'TWEET TWEET BROTHERS'. if you know the song, you'd understand why
"Last night, I was witnessing the birth of a new supergroup, an amazing incarnation called CHICKENFOOT (featuring the eternally youthful Sammy Hagar, the baddest bass pounder Michael Anthony, the untouchable Joe Satriani and the mischievous Chad Smith) performing in London — an energetic and amazing evening — only to be flattened by the news of what was happening in Los Angeles simultaneously.... A night to remember indeed!
"Today and forever, I celebrate the music and the influence of Michael Jackson.
"Long live the King Of Pop, long live one of my few mentors of the mic.
"RIP, Michael!"

One of the few redeeming posts in this thread. Very well written sentiments by Jeff.
Thanks for posting this, Deb.
Are you that retarded?... Haven't you said enough.or are you just a damn fool? You 're making the melodicrock forum look bad... Andrew must be away.... you have gone beyond the lowest level of a worthless piece of shit... you must be without sins yourself in order for you to keep writing your judgemental bullshit.... I don't think MJ was a prefect person, but then none of us are... so please!! give it a rest and one more thing I pray to God that you have a tragic event happen to you and that you be so stupid as to post it and so help me God I will write every ugly comment I can about you and laugh about it and believe you me it won't matter how it make you feel because you will deserve it.[/quote]annpea wrote:quote="Tito"]Farrah Fawcett died and went to heaven, when she got there God said he'd grant her one wish. As many times as he would candidly confess that he had a problem, the conversation always ended with a deflection and denial. As I write this paragraph, the reports of drug abuse are spreading across the cable news channels. The instant I heard of his death this afternoon, I had a sinking feeling that prescription drugs would play a key part."

I also just watched an interview with Deekpak who confirmed Michael did indeed suffer from a skin disease (causing his skin to turn white in places) which caused him to wear makeup and cover up. He also had lupus and other autoimmune system diseases.

I have taken out the trash.

I don't know if he was a pedophile. I hope he wasn't. The part of me that sees the good in everyone wants to believe really hard that it was like he said, that he lost his childhood and in adulthood tried to recapture what he had lost through children's causes. Research has shown however, that pedophiles revolve their lives around children for easy access. So which was it? Was he a misunderstood manchild or preyer of children? Only God and the children that surrounded him will ever know for sure.
Unlike acts of murder, child molestation rarely leaves a trail of anything. People are so brainwashed by CSI that even when there is a little DNA evidence, they'll tend to aquit anyway because they expect some big sopping bucket of semen or blood. That's not how it works. If the perps use a condom there's no evidence period plus they have other ways to avoid detection.
This week has just been very crappy. We had our death of three, Ed, Farrah and Michael. Hopefully it will be quiet for another year.
On a personal note I have a sick boyfriend and the office dog where I work and that I have dog sat over the last six years has suddenly taken a turn for the worse. She may be in liver failure and she's bleeding internally. If they can't make her well for the long haul they'll put her down. She's 11 years old and up until the last 6 months had been like a puppy.

Death does not change a person's actions in life. Remember that folks. It's an important thing to learn as you progress through your own life in an effort to be a good person and leave a lasting legacy for your family, friends and neighbors.
I hold the pedophile issue very close to the chest for personal reasons. This isn't an issue like "dog eating" or calling a member of Journey a "midget" or "a tampon-loaded fag"....where one side is morally dubious.
The issue here is an extremely valid one and I find it extremely disturbing that a large percentage of you are willing to completely ignore the utterly disgusting things that have surrounded this man for over 20 years. Thankfully, the media is at least touching upon it.
Great, I get it, he was a musical genius, blah blah blah......he's still a child molester and those children will be FOREVER scarred at what he has done to them.
This is a valid social issue, and ZERO musical accomplishments absolves anyone...and I TRULY mean ANYONE from such actions.
The hypocrisy is disgusting. A group of so-called morally just people, that are so quick to label someone a racist, are so willing to forget and ignore a person's shameful predatory pedophilia and molestation.
Think about just how serious this issue is.....this man does not deserve the hero's send off you are giving him.
I hope you people are proud of yourself!

Well legally he's not. He was found not guilty by a jury of his peers. The truth is, we don't know the truth and we may never know. I think he probably did it but what I think doesn't count. As far as paying off another accuser, that doesn't make him guilty. That just means he wanted the problem and the bad publicity to go away. Once people found out they could get money from him, anyone could make an accusation against him hoping to cash in. Just like the people who will be crawling out of the woodwork writing books about him claiming they know the truth. My feeling about this is if anyone in his family or staff had first hand knowledge the MJ was molesting children and did nothing or covered it up, that makes them just as guilty as MJ. I sincerely hope that was not the case.
donnaplease wrote:I haven't read all the posts here, so forgive me if I repeat something someone else has said.
I think MJ was a freak, but I also think he was seriously mentally ill. His body dysmorphic syndrome is one indicator, his childlike mannerisms another. Listening to him talk about his experiences with those children, it was like he didn't realize that what he was doing was inappropriate. He endured years of abuse at the hands of his father, and talked about how he had to work such long hours as a child and didn't get to experience things that other children his age did. Look at Neverland Ranch... trying to experience those things that he could not as a child, and give that to other children. I would not be surprised if he didn't have a multiple personality syndrome either. I'm a dime store shrink, I admit, but I think there's enough evidence out there to support some sort of mental illness.
I also admit that I really didn't give this a lot of consideration until after his death, but that doesn't take away from the possibility that it's true.
Michael Jackson gave us so much joy in his music and performances. We should respect that and give the guy a break in his death. He's being judged by God right now, and so we shouldn't try to do the job.
