No offense, but if I went to a Journey show and they opened with All the Way, I would walk on stage and take turns punching each of them in the face......

A Journey set list with out Perry?

Why? Who the hell would wanna hear THAT?

Me. Journey is a ridiculously talented band no matter what incarnation they're in. There was some brilliant music before Perry, and there has been brilliant music after Perry.

People really don't give the first three albums enough credit. Highly underrated material, and one day I'd love the opportunity to watch the band perform an all-pre-Perry setlist.

Amen. Obviously, without a greatest hits setlist the masses might not like it, because every casual concert-goer who goes to see their favorite '80s bands wants the hits from the day. But this is a hypothethical for those of us who follow this still great band and love them and their music.

Maybe not "written", but "performed".

It wouldn't bet hard to get great seats for this type of show, though. If Journey wants to go back to playing clubs or maybe open for Clay Aiken, a non-Perry set list would be a great step in that direction.

That's right. It doesn't say anywhere in the thread title or the opening post that it is a 'written by Perry' topic. Folks just like to find trouble where there is none.

yeah it kinda unsettles me too.really doesn't look like steve is showing any discomfort in that picture at all and in fact it seems to me he quite enjoys rubbing shoulders with the likes of the devil.he might be making some more deals with him now so he can release that new album.

Then assume from this point forward that most, if not all threads, carry "not for Portland" somewhere in the title.

portland wrote:Oh I don't think I am on the minds of people when they start a thread....and like I said I was not the only one who had the response.....but I am a target of yours so whatever makes you happy!

No, I think this is Brywool's point: you bitch, periodically. You whine and complain and constantly reassert that you don't like Arnel and Perry was the best, yada yada ad infinitum. Concepts we understand, many sympathize with, and most would agree: Perry was the best. It's not a rational argument; it's not like me constantly asserting (and proving) that Steve Perry was an egomaniacal, narcissistic prick when he was in the band. You're merely stating preference. Over and over and over and over again. You make a point of going to every possible thread and, for whatever reason, throwing that preference down. Even when no one disagrees.

And then, you bitch at me for asserting (and proving!) that Steve Perry was an egomaniacal, narcissistic prick? At least it's (a valid and completely legitimate) argument that is still being discussed. You all but whip out the SP pom-poms and valiantly rush to his defense, whining and carrying on.

This is what we call a double standard. You in the past, said you'd quit posting on "Arnel threads" or whatever. You don't have to, but traditionally when someone gives their word, they're held to it. The only reason I can conjure for you not keeping your word is that you, predictably, like to bitch. A lot. But not about Steve Perry, no, no, no. No, Steve Perry falls somewhere into the bitch-free category and should be for everyone else, right?

Not to mention, at least with me, you like to make ageist remarks and take malicious delight when others argue with me, throwing in a one liner here and there giving your support, which is odd, since you've professed a desire to "not argue with Gideon."

Sort of like the frail, insignificant child hiding behind her bigger friends all the while talking trash and egging the fights on.

Pathetic.

Anywho, the moral of this story is that Brywool is completely right, you're completely wrong, and your anti-Journey sentiments are being called out for the world to see.

Bravo!

People will moan at Journey bringing out new songs and dislike them even if they are very good. But if Journey wernt still bringing out new music then people would be bitching say, "eee Journey cant even write music without Perry, boo Journey they suck!"
