 Okay, gotta pretty good chuckle over this one. If a concert opens with All The Way, it better be Air Supply.

Why are you all hating on "All the Way"? I think it's a really nice song. Sure as hell better than "Open Arms" or whatever.

I think people are just hating if they opened with "all the way", certainly not a song to open with. Nice song though/

zzzzzzzzzzz
All the way- didn't thrill me. I think Open Arms was a great song, just over played.
There was a great song on Generations that was better than both....
"Knowing that You Love Me"- BRILLIANT song.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Cain really let me down with the lyrics to "Knowing That You Love Me," and I refer strictly to the lines about going back in time and holding your lover when she was a child. It seems, ironically, like the perfect setup to a Michael Jackson joke (cue Tito).

But the delivery and chorus were outstanding.

And Brywool, should you ever feel inclined to diss "All the Way" again, be prepared for a swift kick to the testicles. You too '78!!!

I agree with the going back in time line, but I really like the verse where he sings "I can't imagine me anywhere without you", fantastic . As far as All the Way, leave my testicles out of this one please  That happens to be one of my favorite Journey tunes.

It was the first single released off Arrival...and it was a terrible way to introduce the public to a new Journey album. Its VERY bubblegum...and does not represent the band well at all in my opinion.

Higher Place or To Be Alive Again should have been the first single. I'd imagine the record company wanted a balled because of the memories of Open Arms and Faithfully etc

A juvenile and impotent attempt to somehow make Andrew feel obligated to discipline Gideon because he's beating you like Sylvester Stallone did that hanging slab of beef in the first Rocky. The only difference is that hanging slab of beef had a brain at one time.

I found your remark toward Andrew underhanded. Gideon was barred form this forum for months and has come back with a new attitude, and even if I don't always agree with his need to dissect every post line by line, he does follow the forum rules far better than most.

Well in that case they are talking bullshit if they do not like ANY of them

That would be me. Its on principal. I'm a loon, fully admit it. No Perry, No Journey for me. And before you start, I come to this forum because there is as much Perry here as there is post perry Journey. And the entertainment value alone is worth the price of admission. :D

Me, because it would be something different. No dirty dozen. And there are great songs in the Journey(s) without Perry. There are definitely quite a few non-Perry Journey songs out there that are at least equal in quality to the Perry era... but a lot of people won't hear it because they're such huge fans of the Perry era. I'm happy, though that I accept and really like all incarnations of the band. They're all good songs, greatest hits and all, but this would be a welcome change of pace. Maybe they could open for themselves?

When it comes to monumental albums that have achieved Diamond Status, Def Leppard has Pyromania and Hysteria, Bon Jovi has Slippery When wet, AC/DC has Back in Black and Journey has .....Journey's Greatest Hits. When it comes to casual fans, Journey reigns supreme. All hail The Dirty Dozen.

Maybe the quality of the recording equipment as good. Seriously there is nothing, I mean absolutely nothing before and after Perry that rivals the hit material. Vocally, lyrics, anything, even the success as well, the album sales prove that, but even if sales are not enough, or the voice, you take a look at Neal Schon these days, and you take a look at Neal's playing 20 years ago. He was much more measured back then, played awesome solo's, nothing too sloppy, just really smooth, but even off the stage their decision have cost them a lot of fans lots, lost a lot of respect as well among their peers no doubt among the music industry and critics, the way they treated their former singers, treated them all very badly. Neal has always been underrated, but more so now than ever before, that's my opinion. Anything after Perry is more or less a snooze fest... it really is.

Neal and Mick Jones both have that fake, manufactured look on their face nowdays when they're soloing. It all sounds recycled, I don't see the fire from them that was so apparent in their shows during the 80's. Maybe it's the botox or maybe they're just bored. I don't know.

No doubt. They lost the fire yes, plus the plastic surgery... you can't count back the years, just let your hair turn grey. But atleast Mick Jones doesn't wair a wig or color his hair like Neal, even though Mick has lost his hair, I guess he's not that bad after all. I suspect Neal is packing a piece and has been for quite sometime.

To go with his sock.

Perry was smart. He knows without Cain and Schon, its impossible to capture the magic of that great songwriting trio. He counts his money and walks the beach at Delmar enjoying retirement.
