Finally, someone on here who loved his pants too. I really thought they were stylish also. 8)

Thanks for the videos.

Yeah, that kicks ass. I think the whole band, especially Neal and Arnel are really liking this "rocked up" version of Journey lately. I know I am.

I am also diggin what you called "rocked up" version of Journey. I think that's how it's should be done. I personally like the grit in AP's voice. I hope they will keep this up....anything less than this at future concerts will be disappointing.

That's the best part of him. And I think its fine he can sound like SP when he needs to preserve the sound of a song and make it come out the way the fans remember.

Man, are these rocked out versions killer! Arnel is really on fire, and the whole band is just smoking. This is some of the best live Journey I've ever seen, in person or on video, and i don't care which singer / lineup you're measuring against.

One thing I think Journey should consider, especially if they're going to continue hitting the hard rock / metal festivals, is maybe throw in one cover of a Zepelin tune (or some other heavy act) of something classic and heavy that metal fans like a lot and just blow the place away with it.

It looks like the fans are receiving them well despite the fact that Journey isn't exactly slip knot, korn type stuff (whatever they sound like!) but Arnel can do Zep and a bunch of others really well.

Imagine Journey doing something like Kashmir at one of these shows and just slaying everybody! Granted, Journey's style isn't exactly heavy metal, decidedly so, and everybody knows that, but skill-wise, Journey can play heavy and probably smoke anyone at these metal festivals on stage--I'd LOVE to see them prove it with just one song!

Yeah, you're right. At a Journey concert they've got too much to do for any covers. But when they are playing at festivals that have a heavier style than Journey's, it would be a show stopper if Journey pulled something hard and heavy from out of left field and just killed them all with it. Of course they should only do one, and stay true to who they are.

Also, why not dust of World Gone Wild, and some of the heavy hitters they already have but don't play? For example, Message of Love, in my opinion, is basically just a heavier, darker, Separate Ways. Why not slip than one in in place of Separate Ways, at a metal festival? Seems like a better fit sonically.

Imagine the jaws dropping on the nay-sayers who think Journey is "bubble gum" rock or thinks Neal is out gunned by those metal guitarists, if they played Kashmir or the likes of it! Granted, a lot of those metal guitars are great players, but I'd put my money on Neal in a shoot out. 8)

I'd like Neal to do it, because he has never really gotten the cred he deserves, and some of his contemporaries are probably a bit over rated. I'd like Neal and Arnel to show them.

Neal is pretty respected in most guitar circles... I know a lot of metalheads over at the Dream Theater forums love him. At any rate, I don't think they need to play a cover song to show Neal off, he's got plenty of good shit on his own

Me too. This show was spot on, and I really want the whole concert, not just pieces, because the energy and flow of the concert is where they shine. And I did forget to mention Edge of the Blade. Just loved it.

He is, but at the same time, a lot of metal fans have never heard of him, despite the fact he ought to be on anybody's top 10 list of great axemen.

Besides that, it's kind of weird for Journey to play metal shows, isn't it? If I went to a melodic rock festival and marilyn manson or someone played, I'd be less than impressed, because that's not my thing. BUT if somehow something as strange as that did happen, Marilyn could wow me if he was able to pull off something melodic and within the genre. It wouldn't probably make me a fan, but I might think: That guy is better than I thought (crazy example, I know)!

Granted, it seems that a lot of metal fans do dig some Journey (at least secretly) but for Journey to give a nod to the music that most of the fans have come to hear, would be smart. Plus, I'd love to hear Neal do something like that as a rare gem that everyone would talk about. He could never get away with it at a Journey show, and probably shouldn't.

These metal shows are a once in a life time chance for Journey to do something really rare and different where I think the audience would be impressed and appreciative.

How quickly everyone forgets the bills they were on in 70's with Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, etc. And they were given thunderous appause at those shows.
The introduction of Cain to the band is when they became balladeers instead of rockers. Borrowing from tunes like "Through the years", no wonder "After all these years" sounds like a country song.

Tell me the band wasn't rocking here. If Neal jammed harder than this at this show in Belgium, I missed it.

Lovin you is easy, it's the one I sent you. But there are a bunch of songs on that disc where Neal is on fire, even going down on his back at one point. And the harmonica work on Precious time is pure rock also.

Oh, yeah, unbelievable. Neal just blazes through that song on his guitar. It literally takes your breath away he's so good. The one on his back escapes my memory right this second, and I just watched it the other night. I think it's a song with Rolie also singing, but can't remember.

Well, coming from a Depeche Mode junkie, we'll allow for your odd fashion taste.

   Touche'

Watch, I predict next year you guys will be in plaid jeans. And you probably loved Perry's high-waisted grass green polyester pants in the 80s. You probably bought a pair.

Where is that picture of Cyndi Poon with the Green jeans and red Nikes getting something signed from Neal (with his Afro and red coveralls)?

How tall are you Jana? You seem to have a *thing* for short guys.

Maybe Neal saw my sig? :D

Maybe not, plaid pants? What next, Izod polos? Preppy look does not equal rock.

True, those have got to go!

Those were jeans type cut, and they were fashion forward. Looked great with sneakers, very cool.

So, it's purely a platonic relationship between you, Neal and Arnel then?
