Yeah, you're right. At a Journey concert they've got too much to do for any covers. But when they are playing at festivals that have a heavier style than Journey's, it would be a show stopper if Journey pulled something hard and heavy from out of left field and just killed them all with it. Of course they should only do one, and stay true to who they are.
Also, why not dust of World Gone Wild, and some of the heavy hitters they already have but don't play? For example, Message of Love, in my opinion, is basically just a heavier, darker, Separate Ways. Why not slip than one in in place of Separate Ways, at a metal festival? Seems like a better fit sonically.
Imagine the jaws dropping on the nay-sayers who think Journey is "bubble gum" rock or thinks Neal is out gunned by those metal guitarists, if they played Kashmir or the likes of it! Granted, a lot of those metal guitars are great players, but I'd put my money on Neal in a shoot out.
I'd like Neal to do it, because he has never really gotten the cred he deserves, and some of his contemporaries are probably a bit over rated. I'd like Neal and Arnel to show them.
