Journey - What I Needed - Amsterdam 2009

Postby Chubby321 » Mon Jul 06, 2009 6:29 am

Just posted today.

Comment from Heavenlykings- Journey with an amazing live performance of What I Needed. Some people think it's like watching a rock opera. Nevertheless, this i an epic display by the BOYS, in my opinion, better than the studio...

Welcome.

Most of the youtube videos of this song, the camera focuses on Arnel but here you can see the whole band which makes this particular video a joy to watch. Lovin' Deen and Neal here.

What a powerful song!

I love this song live, but even though this is a fantastic video of the concert, the sound is a little muted. The MOA Manila video is not a good visually, but the sound on that video really showcases the song. If Rip is around here maybe he can comment on how it was live in Manila compared to the YouTube video. Maybe one day we'll see it if they put it on the Manila DVD, which they had better, b/c I love the extended version. And, hopefully, it will be on the setlist for the U.S. leg of the tour.

It's difficult to find great sound on Youtube videos, due to the way they are recorded. That and cheap assed computer speakers can make the sound horrifying on some, but this is decent. I also posted one from Switzerland a few days back that sounded pretty decent. I hooked up some Bose speakers that I had laying around to my computer last night and found that Arnel actually sounds much better than I had previously thought. :D

Not slamming anyone, but the Manila Youtubes really do sound quite terrible, at lease most of them I have heard. As many people as were there, I'm surprised front row didn't get some better shots. I have heard that this concert sounded really good if you were there, so here is to hoping the DVD comes out this late fall, as reported....and they'd better not cut any of the set out or I'll be pissed.

He sounds great on here and Neal and everyone. I just wish it were louder b/c this song loud just blows me away live. But my computer speakers suck anyway. It's the same laptop I had b/f, but the new version the speakers are never as loud or get distorted sound on bad youtube videos. Whereas, my old laptop that didn't happen.

I will say out of all of the Revelation stuff this and the first song on the CD are my favorites. This is a moving song and AP seems to connect with the meaning of the words, and Neal is as always great.

That was my problem with the Manila videos. This song actually gave me chills it was so fantastic and the sound loud and crisp, but when Neal was doing his solo part at the end, Arnel's fans on both videos I saw have panned the camera over to Arnel way on the side and you can hear Neal tearing up the song but no visual of him on the guitar. Irritates me to no end. But I guess I have to look on the bright side and be glad they made the video for me to view. :D

I was waiting for some kind of comment to this effect......I did not say it was better than Perry....I said out of all of it....those are my choices....and maybe the ice melted a tad.....no more than that! :)

I'll try not to get used to it, but I just thought it was cool that you have some degree of appreciation for one of the new ones. :thumbsup; :D

BTW, I've seen many, many people who's initial response to Journey hiring Arnel go from "oh hell no!" to actually starting to like it. I always liked it, but I'm a root for the underdog kind of guy plus my wife happens to be from the Philippines, so it was probably a little easier for me.

I am not as big of a jerk as you think...I love at least 1/2 of Arrival and like I said those are my choices off of Revelation....that being said I find it hard to come up with something with Perry at the helm that I don't like...and for me that includes the solo stuff....but there are other artists that I listen to as well. Glad you now condsider me human

Use a good quality earphone, it makes a difference. :D

lol...it's amazing how you can incorpaorate JC ("Friga") into any conversation. We could be talking about the fucking sea level in Malaysia and you'd seamlessly incorporate "Friga." You are an amazing, amazing man, Steve.
