Short and sweet this year. This award goes to the guy that was kicked off my message board after being a constant argumentative asshole, only to vow to start his own website and "steal" all my advertisers and "run me out of town".

He got a dose of reality in how hard it is to maintain and run a website and stay inspired while continuing to keep in touch with everyone that is needed to make a great site.
The website URL (I won't say which one) now delivers this message when trying to log in: "The requested URL could not be retrieved..."

Until next year, when you know already just who the D.O.T.Y. is going to be!

I'm glad Shinedown and Anberlin got mentions. Great bands.

Good list. Not much to disagree with, apart from the Jimi Jamison album. I'm going to look up Brother Firetribe now.

No, not Deano. He posts here every once in a while. WTF is not the site Drew's referring to. Not even sure which other site it is/was since I don't bother with music forums outside of MR.

Just thought it was funny that Drew saves a special place in his heart for at least one person per year that gets to win a D.O.T.Y. award.

Hey, where the hell is Dokken's LSA? No joke, this is a serious oversight, but there is still time to correct it without repercussions. :)

I scanned for LSA as well. It deserves a spot IMO.

Thanks dude, now that forced me to pull it out and listen to LSA. That album is such a conundrum. The songs kick but, that new kid they have playing George Lynch is fucking amazingly good.....I just can't get past the tired sound of Don's voice. Put a healthier voice on the record, and it's a fucking killer, top tier dokken record....who needs Senor Scary?

No mention for The Gaslight Anthem....oh well. I love 'em.

Why is metal and prog lumped together as a category?

Some stuff for me to check out here for sure. I like I'll Miss That Someday and One Passenger both making it into your top 5 song choices - definitely the 2 best on VIOD by a mile. Great, great songs. I can't believe that album's been out for close to a year already.

Lame attempt on the DHOTY. I believe everyone knows that it realistically should've been Ed. He certainly has caused more 'problem' here than Chief ever did. Even though Andrew and Ed are on civil terms with one another now (and Ed is a friend of mine & I mean no disrespect to him), this seems like a cowardly way out to me.

Congrats to Eric Ragno for his KBPOTY award! 8)

It almost seems like a badge of honor....most of the guys that earned the DHOTY are guys that I know in one way or another, and they're always proud to be bestowed this great honor from Andrew....

Well, they're not an AOR band, but they rock and they are melodic, so hell yeah!
