SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The San Francisco Zoo’s popular same-sex penguin couple has broken up.

Male Magellan penguins Harry and Pepper have been together since 2003. The pair nested together and even incubated an egg laid by another penguin in 2008, but their relationship hit the rocks earlier this year when a female penguin, Linda, befriended Harry after her long-time companion died.

This did not go over well with Pepper, who became violent. The three penguins were separated for some time following the fight.

"They have been doing okay since,” said Zookeeper Jennifer Katz. “They have been getting along okay. But Pepper is by himself now, so we are keeping an eye on the three of them."

On Friday they appeared to be back on good terms, as they were re-introduced back into their enclosure.

Zookeepers say Harry and Linda are happy and were able to successfully nest this year.

Looks like Harry swing both ways, and Pepper was ready to kick some ass.

Naah, just tossing the Loons some bait on a boring Saturday night. But this pic does remind me of what happened to Tito:

I should have went down to Saint Louis tonight to see .38 Special, REO, and Styx - now I'm kicking myself for not going. Even though they're tired and I've seen them all umpteen times, it still would have been a good show for a $25 lawn seat, and the weather turned out to be perfect (it was supposed to be raining). Damnit!

Don't go dragging the Loons into this sordid affair. Now, if Harry dumped Pepper to hook up with Perry's cat, THAT would be something for the Loons to chew on for a while... :D

Every year or so the media of San Francisco does a story on same-sex animals at the zoo there. The last one was with apes. It's a great concern to the gay community here to find animals who they want to think are homosexual. They feel in doing so they can then argue how it's natural or something to mate with the same sex.
I've never eaten a piece of sushi I didn't thoroughly enjoy.

Just because they are, does not make them bad penguins.

Jtfc, what is the big deal. We have a nice little sayigng that goes "Live and let live". People love to preach that one until there's something they want to sit in judgement of. If two guys want to bang, frickin' shut up about it. Unless they're banging YOU, it doesn't affect you in the smallest way.

If two male penguins want to nest together, who cares? No one would ever hear about it if the stupid news didn't have to make a big deal about it and I promise you they aren't the first animals of the same sex to snuggle up to each other. Male dogs do it all the damn time. Much like human males, they will bang anything that walks by and not give it a second thought. I had two male cats at one point who never left each others side and were more or less life partners.

Your response is quite expected. Matter of fact I really like your response. Because it proves a point. The point that no one is intitled to his or her opinion if it's not the same opinion you have. So my opinion is not like yours so you label me as a bigot. I grew up in the gay community and my parents had tons of gay friends in the 70's and early 80's. Some of the best times I can remember as a little kid were the times we'd go to thier houses for picnics, birthday parties, Christmas parties, and so on. Over the past few years however, I've observed how the gays and lesbians pretty much support the one way street mentality and methodology. They do not allow me to have my opinion without calling me such things as bigots. And for this reason, it is actually the gays and lesbians who have assisted me in determining what I now feel and believe is right. In a nutshell, you've lost my sympathy vote for good. If prop 8 would have been on the ballad ten years ago, I would have voted differently for sure.

So thank you for proving my point and confirming that I have made the right corrections to my view, opinion and outlook on this topic! Now my vote will be put to more of a wiser choice from here on out. So anyone out there who's reading this, remember they don't recognize or honor your needs like you recognize and honor thier needs if your opinions aren't the same as theirs.

I’m not trying to speak for Bobby, but please hear me out Sushi. I read your post on the “Inside Neverland---2003 Raid Photos” thread & I think it’s terrible what happened to you when you were 14 years old. The man who did that to you is sick & he most definitely should have been punished. You may be correct in your theory that if you had told someone what happened, maybe no one would have believed you b/c the man who stole your trust was a trusted member of the community. I’m sure you’ve had nightmares over what happened & I know it has deeply affected you simply by the fact that you felt the need to mention it in your post. I’m no psychiatrist, but I do think that your experience has a lot to do with why you feel the way you do toward gays. I’m certainly not going to try & change your mind b/c that is something you would have to work on yourself or with the help of someone qualified to help you come to terms with what happened to you. In any case, what I am here to say is to please try and rethink the harshness of your statement when you compare a homosexual to a killer. I know you carry some deeply rooted scars---& you have every right to be angry ----- but to say that “nature will have the last say” when it comes to both is to imply that homosexuals should be punished simply for being gay. Again, that man who violated your trust should have been punished---- I agree! I TOTALLY agree!!! But not all homosexuals are pedophiles, Sushi. Some of us are very normal.

using the way you're raised as an excuse to treat people as second class citizens is beyond stupid.

You're confusing opinions with facts and what you're trying to pass off as fact is nothing but bigotry.

Just to make it clear, I wasn't comparing gays to killers. What I was doing was saying that a natural behavior and the way nature is, is different from one another. As for the thing I mentioned about when I was 14, I had no hard feelings for the dude. Actually while he was telling me what jacking off was, I thought it was funny. That incident didn't make me change my mind about anyone. It was many years later, just in the last few years where I changed my opinion about this topic. Things that went on in the workplace and things that go on in the city.

They feel in doing so they can then argue how it's natural or something to mate with the same sex.

FUCK YOU, BIGOT!

I'm not gay, but I still think you're ignorant.

Yeah, I was just exactly like you once. Thought people were ignorant for the same reasons you think I'm ignorant now. That's cool though cause I know that no one can change anyone elses opinion. I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion, just voicing my own. You think I'm ignorant, more power to you. I've learned a very powerful lesson, not from people who are against gay and lesbians....no, I learned my lesson from individuals like BobbyInTN, who have allowed me to reconfirm that I've made the right change in my personal opinion on this topic.
