I didn't either -- I assumed it was an original. Hmm...

I don't think he did. Kenny Rogers has a song called Through the Years and one called After All This Time but they aren't the same song as AATY.

I love Kenny Rogers, I wish he WOULD do AATY!

The way I read it, and correct me if I'm mistaken, Gunby, but I think he meant Kenny Rogers covered the basic idea of it already, not that he actually sang the same song.

I'm pretty predictable on this answer, but they need to stop stepping all over Stone In Love and smashing and squooshing the chocolatey goodness out of it. Makes me cringe. I probably wouldn't notice or mind if they kicked Open Arms to the curb in it's bathrobe and flip-flops, either.

DING DING
I didn't want to have to spell it out but I should have remembered that a lot of people weren't around when every second song on the radio was a Kenny Rogers song and Through The Years, Coward Of The County, Lady and a bunch of others were sitting near the top of the charts burrowing their were into our subconscious. The same thing probably happened to Cain, now that I think of it. Hear something in your head and not know if it's your idea or coming from somewhere else.

Well, true, but in Cain's defense, he does have an extreme talent for pussy sappy drippy cliche lyrics, so it may have been all his own idea.

Actually I'd like to see all the songs pre-Arnel not be played anymore. But realistically that isn' possible at this time because they really wouldn't have a large list of songs to play if they did that.

When Sammy joined VH, I don't recall them ever doing a song pre-Sammy with Sammy singing it.

I guess so. Come to think of it, I must have been in bootcamp/A school and isolated from the entire world during that time frame of VH. One minute I recall DLR leaving and the next thing I knew I was in Japan and 5150 came out.

I think you're signature is inaccurate. According to the Grammy website, John Mayer won the 2009 award for best male vocalist

Lmao...They would sell all of 10 tickets.
Its ONLY the Perry era songs that 99% of the audience wanna hear, including me.
Pity that the 'Main Man' aint there singing them.

Escape def. allows each member to shine, but if the purpose of 'the dozen' is to satisy the casual masses, this is an odd fit.
As a totally non-empirical, non-scientific survey, I'v never met any casual fan who has this one of his Ipod.
Same with BGTY or OTY - despite them being part of the GH.
These songs just aren't pop colture staples the same way DSB, OA, LTS, Faithfully, and AWYWI are.

Haha, I was a big KR fan back in the day ... AATY does sound like one of his songs. Agree about SIL ... just don't like how they are playing this song now.

Nope, you're not the only one. I like LTS too. Great sexy bluesy groove to it, especially live versions. This myspace clip cracked me up, guess some chick took the song literally.   http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea ... 1945285420

Agree with you on Open Arms too.......that one, Who's Crying Now and DSB......I wouldn't miss them in the setlist.

I could go without DSB or AWYWI.

You know what song I've never heard live off the hits? Send Her My Love. It's a great song too.

I have a buddy who said the same thing, infact he swore it was off of all his media players. One night we were over there for a BBQ and he got this date with a new girl. We're out on the deck drinking wine and just listening to music. Suddenly Open Arms comes on, she scooted over next to him, then they were dancing....and I mean dirty dancing. He had no explanation, but he knows and I know it worked that night. Many more sappy Journey ballads followed as we hit the hot tub.

I think that all the songs that SP made famous should be retired, and they should just rely on songs that only AP sings, since he is so wonderful. Let's see how far they get, THEN...........just have AP sing the songs that HE made famous. Oh..........wait a minute...........

Here's another reason why Journey should keep the hits Journey made famous regardless how us diehard (current and former) fans feel.

"From Bassist/vocalist Phil Rind of reactivated Arizona thrashers SACRED REICH" obviously a thrash metal band.

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbe ... mID=123137

Highlights from Bang Your Head!!! fest: JOURNEY! Holy crap, they crushed everyone. Their sound was perfect. Their new singer was incredible. They cranked out hit after hit."

For me I've never been a fan of Open Arms and that at least gets dropped at the hard rock shows, I'm also sick to death of DSB. Faithfully, Lights and AWYWI but the crowds love it and go nuts; so the band has no choice especially overseas where crowds have not been inundated by them. If they keep pushing the Rev. songs who knows where they will go worldwide?

Do you have to ask an obviously disgrutled Perry loon what his point is? I'm telling you, there are people out here who cannot handle Journey in any post Perry incarnation. Please forgive them for they know not what they miss. 8)
