1.49am.

Good night!

Congrats on your choice for the drummer award.
(I already emailed Andrew about it....)

This is sooo true...we hear way too much programmed shit these days.
I just did a record with Dennis Ward this year, the new Axxis record, and we put a lot of effort into the drum production.
Makes a huge difference.

the dhoty said publicly he would wipe andrew and mr out. that is nothing other than mean. those of us who knew that little contingent of manipulator(s) are glad to see them gone. sorry to hear of the illness that has struck his wife. i don't think that is what stopped him from taking over andrew's domain; years of hard work establishing a reputation and building a reputable site do not come easy. shame on that little pair that thought they could take over.

Very well said.

LOL!

AJM, for the top covers of the year did you consider anything from D2 of Revelation or maybe not as it's not a pure cover per se since it is still Journey?

Glad to see the nods for Brother Firetribe. Fantastic record, and "Wildest Dreams" is just off the charts, in my opinion. Here's hoping they release another album soon.

Thanks for the list, Andrew!

Gotta love MR, never heard of Brother Firetribe before, but really, really like that song Wildest Dreams. LOL I'm like a sponge when it comes to new/old MR music.

I hadn't heard of them, either, until Andrew mentioned them a couple of years back in the MelRock Awards. I bought their first album then and their second when it came out in 2008. For the past few years I've been buying a bunch of melodicrock CDs based strictly on Andrew's recommendations. I haven't been disappointed yet.

Andrew, try not to make any sudden turns...you might break Belar's neck!  Just messing with you Belar. I normally agree with Andrew's tastes in music too. That is when he isn't busy being a wanker!

I'd never heard of that band either until I read his review, and they're definitely on my "must buy" list now.

With all due respect, Andrew.....I think you compiling this list would be like Bud Selig(comissioner of baseball) picking the All-Star team. Just my opinion.
I think it would be more credible if the members of the board were involved in the process....HH does the same thing, Dan and a couple of his cronies each compile their own 'Best of....' lists.

Well, for one, I wasn't disrespectful. Secondly, I never said that you were not 'allowed' to produce a list. I said the list would be more credible if members were involved....you make it sound like this is a dictatorship. Again, WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, without the members, you don't have a board to post a list on.

I was merely suggesting that perhaps you could include some members' picks as well....

When faced with criticism from people I respect, I listen and take their concerns under advisement.

When coming from you, I ignore it. No one is asking you to honor my opinion as the last, final and only word. They are simply MY opinions which I enjoy sharing at the end of each year.

You serve little purpose on this site apart from enjoying the sight of your own posts and stirring the pot. Very much like our friend GiddyOn.

I don't believe anyone on here takes you seriously.

I don't get why it would be more credible if members were involved. IMHO. Sometimes that's just a popularity vote or love of a band by a fan that doesn't really deserve it that year or picks by members who never even listened to every band in the category. He's an rock interviewer and rock critic and this is his list.

I totally respect Andrew's opinions. Andrew apparently listens to every album multiple times before making a review. He is basically fair and unbiased. Who on this forum can say they are fair and unbiased?? Everyone here has there own agenda.  I'll takes Andrew's opinion any day of the week.

Totally! Andrew's got very similiar tastes as me......JSS, Journey, EM, Tom Cochrane and many others. Heck, I just learned last week that EM was almost Toto's singer! Lukather wanted Eric and Porcaro wanted Fergie. Have learned a heck of alot on MR. And that he "gets" Mr Big's collective talent is a big plus. :D  Will be cool to have a listen to some new (to me) MR music on the MR5 cd. I remember reading this review and I don't think I've ever read a review that I have ever agreed with more, than this one. It's like he pulled those thoughts right out of my head. :o http://www.melodicrock.com/reviews/tmg-tmg1.p3

Thank you. And I do clearly state it is only my opinion. It is one of the few indulgenes I get each year...the majority of news and reviews are presented factually and I enjoy getting to add afew more personal opinions with the Awards page.

May thanks. Really appreciated. .I have never said anyone has to take every word as gospel, which is why I also present audio previews for most titles.

But I have reviewed for nearly 15 years now and I beieve I come from the standpoint of talking about albums and listening to them as I have for 25 years now....from a fan's point of view. I am a genuine FAN of this music.

So if I like something for whatever reason, I believe others will also for the same reasons.

I listen to albums between 5 and 25 times before reviewing and absolutely try and stay unbias every time. Again...hence my enjoyment doing the Awards, where I get to expand on previous thoughts a little with a more personal view.

Dude, the awards are for the site and are posted there, not on the forum. You might have a sliver of an argument if he posted it in a thread here or something... but even still, what's he supposed to do, include everyone's choices? The list would be 8000000 pages long. Polls are not all-inclusive either, surely many's choices wouldn't even get consideration. When Rolling Stone or Guitar World sets out to make a list, they don't poll the readers, the writer(s) make the choices. That's barring "Reader's Choice" awards, obviously. But, at any rate, with any list, no matter how it's compiled, someone will be offended or mad that something was left out or included etc etc etc.

I've had about 1 personal interaction with Andrew, and that was to reactivate my account after I switched e-mails, but you can call me an ass-kisser if you want. But you have no argument here.

Gone to my head? Sorry there TontoOne, but I have had the same attitude since day 1 and I believe this forum has lasted the distance due to that.

However, these days I do suffer fools with less patience, hence my comments to you.

Wow, I had thought Andrew was too harsh in his comment to you earlier. But when I made my post disagreeing with you it wasn't to kiss Andrew's ass. I just absolutely disagreed with you, that members should pick when they have their favorite bands and wouldn't be objective and, most importantly, b/c they're not listening to every album. For you to call us ass-kissers b/c we disagree with you says you can't take an opinion different than yours. We're just stating our opinion regarding your comment and all happen to agree with each other. Nothing more.

Um, double standard much yourself? So are you calling anybody that agrees with him or has similar tastes, an ass-kisser? :?

I'm not sure what you are getting at S2M, this is a yearly synopsis of Andrew's opinion of what he thought was good and bad from the previous year. Take it or leave it. If you are talking about a separate poll of what the poster's thought was good or bad from the previous year, that would be something different. Not sure how not having all of our input makes his list less credible??? I'm confused. :?

You are a walking double-standard....

LOL. I must check IPs and compare with GiddyUp. You must be channelling each other's inane ramblings.

Gone to my head? Sorry there TontoOne, but I have had the same attitide since day 1 and I believe this forum has lasted the distance due to that.

However, these days I do suffer fools with less patience, hence my comments to you.

You can check all the IP addresses you want....I don't have multiple screen names. I just find it extremely sad that you wear your ownership of this board like some sort of badge of importance....my step-mother was like you. Bought a convenience store with lawsuit settlement, and thought she was the queen of the city.....

I made a simple suggestion, and you took it like a slap in the cock.

By the way...this forum has lasted thanks to one thing, and one thing only: Neal's fucked up psyche. Pure Journey Drama.
