I've long wanted this....Judas Priest is doing it this summer with British Steel. They could advertise far in advance and make sure each region got each album

That would be nice, but all those spoiled brat USA fans won't have it.

Damn right.
The Generations tour most of the crowds couldn't stand ANYthing but the dirty dozen, our instant gratification ADD society doesn't allow for deeper cuts.
Having said that maybe the band will flip it off and do it a few times. Motley seems to have started a trend this summer by planning to play Dr Feelgood in its entirety every night, Aerosmith followed suit with Toys In The Attic.

I disagree. This sorta thing should really be reserved for those bands that were together during the recording of these albums. Can you see Van Halen with Roth doing a 5150 night? or VH with sammy doing a VHII night?

Dream Theater, Rush, and Yes (when they had the original members) can get away with it....

but seriously, I don't want to hear Journey do Frontiers or Escape in its entirety with Arnel and Deen replacing the two Steves. It will seem cheap and contrived..

Did you see the set list for the show they just did?
Say this three times fast:

DIRTY DOZEN
DIRTY DOZEN
DIRTY DOZEN

Album night? Sure, it would be nice. Europe would have been the place to do it though, not here in the States where the casual fan rules supreme.

Never happen.

The bass player could never relearn the fucking chords, so this idea is history.

The exact reason why I personally have had no interest in new 'Journey' material since 1998.

Yeah, I mean....

the other night, Judas Priest did this. They played the British Steel album in its entirety.

While Im not a fan of Priest at all, and I ended up leaving after they finished the album....I thought it was cool, since, afaik, the original band is together.

Had they done this when Tim Ripper Owens was singing, it would look stupid.

It's like reminiscing with a new girlfriend about something you did with an old one. What's the point...the new one wasn't there at the time...

Can't fault the pinoy for grabbing this opportunity, but the fact of the matter is that a band like Journey, due to its circumstances....can't do some of the things that other bands (who didn't have personnel problems) can do. That's just a fact.

It would just paint a bitter picture in the minds and ears of fans that care about this band's history.

Something that could blow up in Journey's face. While not taking this to VH's extreme, I really believe Schlong and Friga would LOVE to write Perry out of Journey history...and would do it if they could.

I don't think that can ever entirely happen for the reason of copyright alone. I may be wrong on this, but when it comes to video airing of songs (Live concert DVDs) the guys still have to ask permission to include the songs they co-wrote with Perry to be included in the video. Audio wise it's a different story but when it comes to video, I think it's a totally different ballgame. Divorce, broken stones and all that other bullshit aside, there still has to be some type of communication between the two camps, if only through lawyers. To try and write Perry completely out could turn into a litigious nightmare I would think.

i just thought about that too.imagine if journey decided to strictly do all material after 1998 and only include arrival, red 13,generations and revelation material.they could try this but it would not work because 95 percent of the fans only want to hear stuff 1978-1996 perry era.

i wonder about this though.if schon and cain knew they could get away with only doing post 1998 material i wonder if they would do it.

also i wondered if they would ever put out a post 1998 greatest hits with strictly songs from the last decade.

Well, I didn't like Vince Gill covering Amie on Pure Prairie Leagues Greatest Hits and I don't care for these either but there is an audience for bands covering themselves I suppose. In the end, Money rules all. I'm just glad the re-records weren't available on Itunes. No need to contaminate the youth with more counterfeit songs, they've got plenty of that already.

It means he bought the music through Wal-Mart, Journey's official site or got it free from a place like Pirate Bay. You can download the whole Revelation package (DVD included) from torrents in under two hours with a cable connection. Some people don't care if the price is only one dollar, if they can get it for nothing, they'll go that route, just like they did with Arrival on Napster.

I'd like to combine the ideas of Mike and Frank and say that they should advertise and do a/some small venue Revelation night(s). Perform the entire album front to back.

That's a great Idea. They should try it while they're up North in Journey's home area of San Francisco, maybe have Sy Klopps open for them.

A small club just to see how it goes. Hell, let Herbie set up the gigs for them, in case there is resistance to the idea.
