Did a Perry loon unplug the geetars and amplificationators?

I guess we'll wait for more news. Doesn't sound too good.

A voice was heard in the background from Bufford T. Justice. "Listen you nin-cum-poop...you were only supposed to turn off the tape deck. I can't believe you come from my loins, Boy!" :P

Cadott is up in the middle of nowhere. A bear probably chewed through the power cable.

Good to hear them lowering the key of that song. Helping Arnel out. That's where Perry sang it on the FTLOSM tour. Still sounds great in that key.

A great song is a great song, in any key.

Maybe they weren't cutting cables at all, but trying to pipe in their own voices.

More on the sound problem in this review:

And the crowd obliged, cheering and singing along like it did for no others. Many couples embraced, swaying back and forth as if on a dance floor instead of a Chippewa County farm field, and clearly forgiving the earlier technical difficulties that briefly had them booing. (The band lost sound twice, once for about two minutes and again for less than a minute).

After hearing Perry sing these songs so many times, it seems aimless to me to put on a CD or a video to hear/watch someone else do it. It just doesn't have the true sound or feel of Perry, nor should it. It's no different than hearing someone emulate Robert Plant by singing Stairway To Heaven or someone emulating Mick Jagger to sing Sympathy For The Devil. I can see going to a live show to pay homage to the existing band members and enjoy a little nostalgia, but as far as watching YouTube vids of Augeri, JSS, or Arnel singing Journey/Perry hits - it's just not a thrill for me.

I do enjoy watching them doing revelation tunes on YT. There are a gazillion DD vids out there.

Tell me about it. And I want to hear something from the catalog, something they have not performed yet, ever.
I think they might do it in a smaller venue. Let's wait and see.

Yeah, but they introduce anything new, anything not the DD, and that seems to be the beer and piss break time for a lot of the casuals.

I hear you. People wanting to check them out live is cool. Seeing a hundred different takes of Faithfully by singer number 4 or whatever on youtube, not for me.
We've got some great crooners I could listen to at the Filipino karaoke bar across from the mall. The sound is a lot clearer then youtube. I can hear the -A after each word pefectly, much better than youtube and a lot nicer scenery also.

Yeah, I'm with Voyager. And, boy, I'm no student of music, but even I can hear the lower keys on all these songs. Nothing against Arnel, but if that's all they're going to do is play tuned down versions of the DD on this US tour, I think I'm going to turn in my ticket.

Journey travels well at Rock Fest
http://www.leadertelegram.com/story-new ... &FORM=ZZNR

By Jennifer Schmidt
Leader-Telegram correspondent
CADOTT - The weather may have been cold, but Journey - Rock Fest's headline act on Saturday - was red hot.

The band had its audience cheering, clapping, dancing and singing throughout the entire 90-minute show. Not even technical difficulties midway through the set could keep the crowd from applauding for long.

"Separate Ways," "Never Walk Away" and "Ask the Lonely" were early crowd pleasers. A track off the band's latest CD dialed the energy level down a tad, though it immediately bounced back with the next number, "Lights." Longtime band member Jonathan Cain treated the crowd to an impressive keyboard solo following the song, and fans absolutely roared as he proceeded into the power ballad "Open Arms." At one point, the crowd's collective vocals were nearly as loud as lead singer Arnel Pineda's.

Pineda - the newest member of the band, joining Journey just about a year and a half ago - won the hearts of many in the crowd with his high-energy vertical leaps, enthusiastic laps across the stage and audience-engaging hand claps. Although it was cold enough to see his breath, sweat dripped from the spirited rocker.

The powerful Pineda brought his own vocal style but kept the classics authentic-sounding, too. The natural born performer had no problem winning the crowd over
.
"Good people of Wisconsin, sing!" he invited during the well-received performance of "Faithfully."

Also rounding out the second half of the show were "Don't Stop Believin' " and "Any Way You Want It," as well as an impromptu blues jam. The band ended with "Lovin,' Touchin, Squeezin" - song No. 16 for the night.

Journey's performance left no room for disappointment, treating fans to a sampling of their best-known songs from decades past while introducing some of their newest numbers. "Any Way You Want It" is indeed what Journey delivered.

It's been a while since I've been to a concert so maybe I'm just not "concert savvy," but why would the audience boo just b/c they lost sound for a couple of minutes? I mean, was it an audience full of third graders?
