That's where it needs to be realized that he is an old man now, although reportedly in good shape.. every shaving of a year older, it'll just get worse and harder for his comeback.

Wow, you must have missed the airport picture. If that's an "old man" in that picture, you need glasses bad YOUNGJRNY.

60 is a number, and has NOTHING to do with physical age or attitude. Some people have found the fountain of youth and I get the feeling SP is one of those people.

IMO, He's going to blow you all away with his beautiful voice, albeit, not the 1980's voice!

LOL, I love your attitude. I really do. But, it is what it is. A silhouetted Steve Perry sitting on a stole doesn't prove anything of what physical condition he is in, or if he can still hit the notes in DSB. Just because he still has black hair, and wearing coattails doesn't clear the fact and reality that the man is 60 years old! There is no indication that he can't do it.. and there CERTAINLY isn't any indication that he can. It's all speculation.

I want him to prove me wrong.. but what other explanation is there that this guy hasn't done squat for over a decade? That right there PROVES that something isn't right with the man's ability to live up to expectations. In today's day in age, lucky for him, he could side step any obscurity he has in his voice with the studio production, but as far as a tour would go, I don't think he would be able to do many. 5 at an absolute MAX if it ever came to be.

Well, I don't claim to KNOW the answers to your questions, but my speculation is that he hasn't produced a new CD during that "over a decade" because he had NOTHING to say, and he was probably recovering emotionally from all of the trauma that visited his life and was probably enjoying doing some other things that interest him. Big guess, but not putting out another CD doesn't "PROVE" anything about his singing ability or not, I'm just saying there can be other very legitimate reasons why that have NOTHING to do with his singing ability. I love his voice more from his solo albums also, and I hope this new CD has more of THAT!!! :D :D :D

The main issue that was debated over and over through the years was "Why isn't Steve Perry RELEASING anything???"
I think I've heard all the answers in the world, from angry fans to hopeful fans, from voice "experts" to "in-the-know" people...Perry was accused of being "lazy", "insecure", "not giving a shit about the fans", etc, etc, etc. But no one stopped in their goddamn tracks to THINK about the business part of all this, although everyone knew about the crappy history between Sony and Steve Perry. More so, everyone knew that the contract between SP and Sony expired recently.

Is it a coincidence that all these "SP new material" tidbits surfaced more and more AFTER the Sony-Perry divorce was done?
It's a simple 2+2=4, but yeah...Isn't it easier to say "he's insecure", "he has no voice left", "he's too old to perform","he's afraid of the expectations", bla-bla-bla?
I'm suprised that in this recent interview, people don't hear the key sentence and the tone of Perry's voice when he said it, which explains WHY "this guy hasn't done squat for over a decade" (to quote a poster here).

Steve Perry is no longer signed with Sony.

He is free to release whatever he wants now as opposed to being at the contractual mercy of a record company that would dictate him what to do.
That's what he's been waiting for. And it took a friggin' decade and a half.

Just to be clear....I am not saying that Perry didn't have his performing insecurities since he retired. ALL singers have those, especially the brilliant ones. But I'm certain that he is aware of his potential and whatever "fright" kept him from singing is LONG gone.

p.s. YoungJRNY, because of that 1 to 25 list of yours, you owe me a new monitor.
