Do you like this forum? Well then donate $5!

Postby Voyager » Sat Jul 25, 2009 5:27 am

I've been thinking lately about how much time Andrew devotes each day to these forums, and how he hardly even posts here very much. So I sent him my annual donation today, and I'm encouraging you to do the same. C'mon... $5 is nothing these days - you can't even buy a beer at a concert with it anymore. Things have been tight for a lot of people lately due to the worldwide recession, so instead of asking you to give $10 or more, I figured if we could get enough forum members to donate $5 it would show Andrew that we appreciate his efforts in allowing us to have this little corner of the Internet to share our passion for Melodic Rock music with each other.

If you want to join in this effort, go to the homepage of Andrew's website at www.MelodicRock.com and scroll down to the "donate" button on the left side of the page and click it. It will take you to a PayPal page where you can donate the $5. If you can afford more than $5, then by all means be as generous as you can be. But if you can't afford $5, don't feel bad. No one is putting any obligation on anyone... it's just a suggestion. Also, feel free to post something here for Andrew to let him know how much you appreciate the forums and all the great writing he does on MelodicRock.com.

Thanks Andrew for all your efforts. They are very much appreciated!!!

Is there a way to donate without using PayPal? I don't have a paypal account.
However, I would love to show my support for Andrew's website.
He deserves a sizeable donation from all of us, for all the locked threads he has had to deal with in the past couple of weeks.

I think you can use PayPal even if you don't have an account. When you click the "donate" button, look down on the left and you should see a link with this text next to it:

Don't have a PayPal account?
Use your credit card or bank account (where available).

Click on that and it should allow you to just use your credit card.

If you already use PayPal, just put the amount in the check up top of the screen and hit click update total right below that box, then you can go ahead and log directly into your own account from the same page.

Also, don't forget that for $35, you can get a yearly subscription to MR-X. I still haven't finished downloading all the available content in that place. If you're a real fan of Melodic Rock, it's a great deal!

Did it send you an authentication email Jim? You may have to click on something in the email to validate your account. It's been so long since I joined PayPal that I can't remember.

Does anyone else know?

Great idea Voyager! I usually donate about once a year too. Instead of going out to a movie one night, take that money and donate here instead if you are able. The amount of hours of fun, laughs, friendship and knowledge we acquire hanging out here over the year, it's the least we can do. Andrew and his site ROCK bigtime!

Also, if you haven't joined MR-X, JOIN! Very, very reasonable one time annual fee. I heard about it for a year or so before I even decided to join at the end of last year. Duh, should have joined muuuuuch sooner. Andrew shares all kinds of rare video/audio goodies in there from all kinds of popular artists/bands.....and he's always updating. :D I almost blew a gasket when I saw and downloaded a rare Mr Big show that yes, even "I" didn't have!

I think it did the same thing to me for about a day, then when I was at the point of contacting Andrew, I got in. Maybe it takes a day to authenticate?
Believe me once you get in, it will have been worth the hassle, if you're a big melodic rock fan.

Ain't there a way to do so without using PayPal or a credit card?????
