Why wouldn't you drop those charges....thats common for this kind of thing. The arrest is the punishment for something like that in my opinion. Its not a big deal..and it got all sorted out. Obama has created a nice shit-storm for himself by going to the race card and calling an officer stupid.

Obama once again showed his inexperience (and immaturity) with his comments on the Gates ordeal. It reminded me of talk radio (all sides) that go off on things with few of the facts in hand. Wait til the shit hits the fan from the union (police). Probably already did since there was yet another "clarification" of what he meant. Surprised we haven't heard from Jackson or Sharpton yet. The president beat them to it.

He needs to remember every comment he makes has an enormous impact on the people of the United States.

I wasn't there and don't know the "facts", so I can't judge on the ordeal itself. All I do know is...if a cop came to my house to check on a possible burglary, I would be thrilled my neighbors and them are looking out for me. I would not start yelling them...IF that is what happened. This doesn't make sense. Why would a cop make that stuff up? I'm sure he didn't think an old dude with a cane was burglarizing anyone. This "you don't know who I am" shit is rediculous...if that was said. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

However, once again here seems to be an example as to why I can't believe anyone is foolish enough to be a cop. Sgt. Crowley will forever in some minds be a racist...regardless of the facts. You kidding me? They put their life on the line every day and they are constantly dealing with second guessing and individuals/groups calling foul. I can't imagine having a day full of split second decisions that could have a lifetime impact on them, their family and those they are dealing with. I really feel for them. Before Barack Obama was a United States senator and a presidential hopeful, he was a Harvard University law student living in Somerville who parked in bus stops and accumulated hundreds of dollars in parking tickets. And for nearly two decades those parking tickets went unpaid, until a representative of Obama’s settled all his outstanding debts with Cambridge’s Traffic, Parking and Transportation Department Jan. 26.

Obama attended Harvard Law School from 1988 to 1991. During his time at Harvard, Obama lived at 365 Broadway in Somerville, according to his parking tickets. Records from the Cambridge Traffic, Parking and Transportation office show that between Oct. 5, 1988 and Jan. 12, 1990 Obama was cited for 17 traffic violations, sometimes committing two in the same day. The abuses included parking in a resident permit area, parking in a bus stop and failing to pay the meter. Twelve of Obama’s 17 tickets were given to him on t the case...

I don't recall specifics, but I heard on the radio yesterday that BO's approval rating at this time is actually one point lower that W's at the same point in his term. I think it was his first term, because it seemed like they were talking about the fact that is was significant because of all the controversy regarding the so-called 'stealing the election', but I'm not sure.
