OT- Don't get bullied around here

Postby steveo777 » Sun Jul 26, 2009 6:05 pm

Newcomers, new fans, previous longtime fans, please be welcomed with open arms around here. Most of the members are really quite nice here. Most of the big dogs with the big barks are really little Chihuahuas. Everyone knows that a Chihauhua has a much bigger personna than it's physical size. In reality, they are really nothing more than short little ankle bitters with a big voice, shaking quietly in their little corners, once the sun has gone down.

If you love your band, don't be afraid to say so. If you embrace something and are experiencing some negatiivity, do not dispare. The more powerful the negativity, the greater the band must be. Around here, you'll find that most praise comes with consequences from small minds who just can't let go of the past and simply cannot get their burned out brains around something new, something pleasurable to most of us. Some people, you will find, are stuck in the 60's 70's 80's 90's, etc. Some are stuck in the night that Steve Perry seemed to blow them a kiss from afar (even though it missed) and thought they were in for the night. 13years later, the walls are still crashing down and they are still chasing their tail :P

So, live it, breath it, enjoy it. We got something special here and to quote Ross Valory, "the magic is back". Close your eyes and let it take you back.
Long live all of you. Long live Journey! :D

I was taking a nap and someone was banging on the door. It would not go away. I finally got up and was greeted by this:

You know, I don't play the PM game but from what I read in some of these threads, it appears a lot of that is going on. People are always talking about how they got PMs from people that support them or people threatening them. It's all confusing to me, this drama behind the scenes.

I'm going to assume that's what you're alluding to, as the last new member we picked up, Raisedonradio92 seems to have been welcomed with open arms.

I rarely PM people.

My thread was just as it says. Sure, there are some veiled innuendos in there, but I did not send them in any particular direction, at any particular person. Just reflecting on my own feelings and hoping others can feel free to express themselves around here, not fearing retribution for their fanhood or beliefs. I understand this works both ways.

Dude, this place is the PG-13 version of what it used to be. If it gets any milder, Andrew would probably have to shutter it.
This place gets the most hits out of Journey related sites because of the bickering back and forth, jawing, and flair ups between members. You can't get that anywhere else. Look at the other Journey/ Arnel sites. Same Topics posted on every site, same replies, probably because it's the same people posting at all the sites. Those sites serve a purpose for a particular group of fans just as this one does for a different group of fans. When it gets out of hand, Andrew will quell it, but as you can see, most flair ups find their own resolution after they go on long enough (or T-Bone locks the thread).
You have to remember, it's NOT an official Journey website (actually, it's not a Journey website, period), it's a forum listed with bunch of other forums on a Melodic Rock website, beholden to no one but Andrew himself.

We're dysfunctional but we're proud of it. It's what makes us unique.

I don't see a whole lot 'veiled' there and I do sense a particular direction. Your initial post and it's reference to SP and how folks are stuck in the past says it all. Trust me when I say that 'loons' have taken more crap at this site for their fanhood than Arnel's fans have ever taken here. And Gunbot is right, this site is very vanilla compared to the good ole days when I joined here back in the fall of 2006. Of course, back then you couldn't be an SA fan and survive here. It's all cyclical. SP and SA were the jerks when JSS was the singer, but when he was disposed of so poorly, people began to realize that maybe those two weren't so bad, and perhaps much more of the fault lies somewhere else in the organization. Jeremey was 'just one of the guys', but when he became a potential singer following JSS' departure, he became a target. As an Arnel fan, I hope you don't enjoy that same realization many came to, but I fear that somewhere down the line (and probably sooner rather than later) that's exactly what you will find.

Well the only time somebody ever actually emailed me, and kept emailing me on a consistent basis with rather threatening language, what that "Rich Meyer" guy from BT, he wouldn't and couldn't let go. Yeah I once made a few comments about George Tickner, nothing bad at all, just "a little dry" humor, which I'm sure George would probably had a chuckle at himself.

However, Rich took it personal (god knows why you would bother) going to those lengths in defending a famous persons honor... makes no sense to me. Anyway that stopped over time, but ever since things have been clear around these parts.

This post is quite funny coming from you......I take more crap from you than almost anyone here.....nice to know you will be backing off my ass in the future....afterall you said we should love our band how we like it

BTW I agree with much posted above....some of us do not have hidden agendas...but we differ in opinions...As of late the posts in threads that are of another topic of "reviews" that have been posted at another site IMO are not needed on a daily basis....most of us know we can go and read them if we want to.....and some of us do. As a "loon" (your god given title for me not mine) I take plenty of crap and I put up with it for the most part...so pardon me if I don't feel too bad for others who seem a little offended or bullied here....as I have felt the same!!!

So yes love your Journey.....but remember that some of us have been fans for a long time...and I for one will not give up on what I consider to be the BEST years of the band....and the person who earned the title the VOICE.

Wrong, Portland, in that comment. This is a Journey forum and Journey is on tour right now, and you're telling us we can't be pasting reviews of tours for each date, but yet having five million threads about a Perry reunion is okay. I'm in the present and past Journey, so enjoy both. And the day it's too much, during tour time, to post Journey reviews, is the day I guess I shouldn't be on here. I don't tell the Loons who have no interest in present day Journey their threads are too much and too many, so it should be vice versa to we who are enjoying Journey now.

If you think it sucks dont be afraid to say so either, this isnt backtalk 2 numbnuts
