I swear that James Taylor played himself to sleep on stage one night. Neal, Brian, Ritchie, Eddie and Joe Perry are mine.

Here are my favorites, but it's really hard to narrow them down. If you're talking acoustic guitar, it's Kip Winger hands down. These guys are all amazing though...

Steve Lukather
Neal Schon
Kee Marcello
Eddie Vanhalen
Mike Rutherford (for style only, not technical ability).

I've only ever seen him live once, and it was an accoustic set, great stuff! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjPxPJbV ... re=related

Rutherford is fantastic. Genesis has some excellent music in their catalog. I don't think Schon is as technically gifted as some others, but he owns the guitar in every other way. I don't believe that Schon can read music, but he can play ANYTHING after hearing it once or twice. That, in itself, is a gift. He plays the guitar through his heart, I think, and it makes him stand by himself where that is concerned. I think EVH is the most talented guitarist around, but Schon beats him in making the guitar part of the song. Nobody does that better.

I have never ever seen the big deal with Slash. Ask any 13-17 year old their favourite guitarist, and best of all times they'll say him.
I just don't see what's so great. He wears glasses, has a retarded afro and looks like a douche. Is that why he's cool?

Not just cool but mega talented! You'd have to know your way around guitars to understand I guess....

To be honest, I find his "talent" inferior amongst guitarists of amongst his ranks of fame.

How familiar are you with the working of guitars? How many lessons have you taken, number of bands, other guitar players you have jammed with etc.... Not trying to slam you, just curious. Regardless, it all comes down to matter of opinion anyway. :D
