Home page - cut and past a few press releases, but not at weekends and maybe at least one day off in the week.
Reviews - 1 a week
Interviews - 1 every 6 months
Melodic rock extra - sporadic updates - if in doubt doubt update a Hooters live show.
Forums - dip in and out. 10 posts a week max.
Seriously, I love this place and I pay my way, but seriously guys how many of would swap places with Andrew if you thought you could make a living out of it? Do you think this is harder than baggage handling, working on a production line, construction etc. I'm not belittling what Andrew does but c'mon...
I'm not having a go at Andrew.
UPDATE - DUNCAN HAS MADE A GENEROUS DONATION, SO I'M EDITING THIS TO NOT RAG OUT ON HIM FOR HIS COMMENT. I APPRECIATE THE SUPPORT, BUT WANTED TO SHOW FOLKS THAT THERE IS A LOT OF WORK BEHIND THE SCENES AND ONLY 10% CAN BE SEEN ON THE SITE UPDATES.
Just a little post about what work does go into the site each and every day -
5 days a week full time, then nights and some weekend time also. I'm required to deal with the site 24/7 - there are no breaks.
100 e-mails a day / Angelmilk bullshit to still work out / business with sponsors and chasing fresh income constantly / PMs & board issues / management and labels and artists to deal with on a daily basis / CD Showcases added almost every week / more CDs to listen to that demand reviews than I can keep up with (reviews and general sub-page updates have been behind this year for reasons I won't ever talk about publicly) / and as for the newsdesk - I spend much more time correcting and writing press releases than I do cut and pasting them.
There is a reason I am one of only a few full time websites that are owner operated. It's TOUGH. I love it and I'd be lost without it....
Just for the record - I am just ONE person that adds everything to the site.....that includes:
Calling musicians, calling labels, soliciting bands, band members, labels, etc for news.
Studying CD's to give in-depth reviews.
Ripping tracks from CD's and cutting them to 1 min soundbytes for all the cd's in the feature albums and mini bytes.
1000's of emails a month to read all of for news, updates, press releases, etc....not to mention CORRECTING these press releases for mistakes.
Trying to solicit artists and labels for material for MR-X.
Trying to secure record deals for other artists.
Chasing sponsors that haven't paid up on time.....each and EVERY month.
MRCD5 - hours upon HOURS of work to organize, settle, manufacturer and SHIP!
Sites maintenence.....errors, SQL issues, HTML issues, bandwidth issues.....
To everyone - thanks for the support and the few donations that arrived over the weekend. Much appreciated. Now back to addressing 400 CDs for shipping and organizing today's news update
It has been a tough year and I have taken some time out to deal with personal issues a lot. It will get back to the best soon...and with new interviews too.
