I have no problem with your appreciation for Arnel. It's obvious that you knew nothing of Journey before he joined, so your only association with Journey is the Arnel-fronted version. But you have to realize, this Journey forum has people who have followed Journey for 30 years now - and many of us see any new Journey singer as just another fill-in in a string of Perry impersonators, Arnel included.

I think you have been very respectful with your passion for Arnel and you seem to respect people who are diehard Perry fans. I have no issues with the stuff you post.

Indeed, Robert Fleischman did not impersonate.

first off there is no comparison. anyone making the mistake of comparing another vocalist singing journey tunes to perry is setting said vocalist up for failure.

it's great that you are an avid fan of arnel. just remember his place in the band and it's history. the previous 30 years have a lot to teach new fans. without the soaring vocals of perry combined with neal's guitar, rolie's keys, steve smith's amazing drum parts, etc... arnel would not have a gig with journey as they would not have built the legacy that they continue to ride on.

3. It's a forum, and you can post anything you like (as long as Andrew doesn't think it's out of line). I like your posts. I just get irritated by a group of supporters that want to get the message out that they think Arnel is better than Perry. I'm not saying that YOU said this, and I know you just posted a positive review.

That's the only thing here that's bothering me. Not you at all. I just wish people out there would respect "The Voice". We wouldn't have Journey without his contributions, and unless some miracle happens, we'll never hear THAT version of Journey again.

Arnel is great (although like I said... his dictation has got to me recently), and I think he's good for Journey. But he is not, nor will he ever be Steve Perry (to me).

Hope I didn't offend you, because like I said... I like you. It is funny after all this time, to find out you're a woman though!

Jim even if I wanted to intentionally offend anybody here, you will probably not even in the list coz I think you’re pretty cool.

I show my respect for the voice by staying away from the legacy debate because for me that’s pretty much untouchable.

Now about the gender thing, you should always leave doubt about somebody’s gender here at MR, not because I said so....

I have no problem with your appreciation for Arnel. It's obvious that you knew nothing of Journey before he joined, so your only association with Journey is the Arnel-fronted version. But you have to realize, this Journey forum has people who have followed Journey for 30 years now - and many of us see any new Journey singer as just another temporary fill-in in a string of Perry impersonators, Arnel included.

Like it or not, Journey is going forward with Arnel. Most of the posts I see on other forums and twitter are positive towards Arnel and the job he is doing.
I have nothing against Arnel, and I actually like his personal story of his shocking rise from his small band to being the frontman to Journey. How could
anyone not like that story? Nevertheless, I believe that Journey's decision to go on without Steve Perry when they did, changed Journey for what it was or will ever be again
to the detriment of JOURNEY. I do not fault the band for trying to pick up the pieces and move on. All good things come to an end. Journey ended when Steve Perry left.
The band is Journey in name only. I wish them the best, but I'll never buy a ticket to see them, as the "current" Journey doesn't interest me mostly because their singer doesn't
move me emotionally. I feel nothing when he sings. It was the voice of Perry that will live forever as JOURNEY. Anything else is something a whole lot less for me.

There is nothing wrong with how you feel. The best course is just to ignore Chubby's threads like she said. Let those who want to partake in those threads have their fun. We have plenty of other topics to follow up on and we can all create our own threads concerning our own interests if we wish. No one has to like Perry or Arnel or Augeri. there are plenty of threads beyond the review threads to express those differing opinions. Obviously we are partial here to Perry based threads (and more and more Foreigner threads it looks like).
It's when people go into another person's thread and try to force what they like on others because their particular thread or subject of interest is being ignored, that's when there is going to be a problem. That's when the thread ninjas (me) are going to come in and take over.

I agree. Respectful dissent on the subject, as opposed to personal attacks on the person.

Thanks guys. :D

You will get no such support from me :) and that's not because your a woman, it really doesn't matter. It's simply because your "pro the current lineup", and to me that spells "trouble maker", "uneducated", and "misinformed", and 99% of the time those apparant fans have no idea what they are talking about, because the simply fact "Steve Perry & Journey go hand in hand", both are lost without each other.

But feel to post :) however! when it comes to Journey I really don't take offense to anything you write, because it's probably not very significant anyway!.

PS.
And I have nothing personal against you, sorry please don't think that I hate you, because I don't... it's just when it comes to the music of Journey (eh, well...)

The word uneducated is a pretty harsh word to label to anybody, I can give you misinformed, but uneducated? Come on.

Give me a hard proof of that 99% that you are talking about. I will be waiting.

lol. That cracks me up. "Both are lost without each other. " Maybe they were the best together with what they created. But Journey is anything but lost  ,and Steve, if he came out of retirement, would be fine. Sure, ge wouldn't sell as many CDs without Journey, but his solo CD would be his vision and he would be happy with what he was doing, b/c he always seemed to want to be a solo artist anyway.

I agree with Gunbot as well.....for me I will try to stay away from the AP lovefest threads.....it's when it creeps into the threads that are not about AP that I look for the "Thread Ninjas" to put the world right again.

I told Chubby.....I get that she is a current Journey fan....and maybe if I did not have such a love for the Perry lead Journey then I would like the current line up more.

For me I just don't understand people who say they are Journey fans....but don't like or listen to Perry....that I don't get and NEVER will.

There is room at the MR table for us all....that's what makes this place fun and interesting if we all agreed it would be boring.

So post on and so will I

I just bought the only Journey album in Walmart the other day for $5.49 LOL

It was to replace my old worn out cassette of it. I once liked Journey without Perry, then I liked Journey with Perry, then today I like Journey without Perry.

Oh, sorry, Gunbot. It seems I mistakenly posted the wrong bear picture. I meant to post this masculine picture instead:

Plus, I didn't mean to say "Thanks," to Babyblue --- b/c that would be too gay.

What I meant to say was "Uh....yeah.... whatever, chick".

(Not really, Babyblue. Just making a funny. Don't hit me.)
