The Melodicrock Summertime Rerun Thread

Postby JasonD » Mon Jul 27, 2009 3:11 am

Is your schedule WAY too hectic? Is your life so jam-packed with places to go & people to see that you just can’t seem to find the time to catch up on all your Melodicrock reading? Are you afraid that the spider web of threads may have gotten away from you? Well--- fear not! Now there’s the Melodicrock Summertime Rerun Thread. It’s the place where you can go to read a potpourri of unrelated comments so that you can decide for yourself which threads you want to explore a little further.

The premise of this thread is this: If you come across a post that you feel is so brilliant, powerful, moving, funny ... etc., that it deserves an encore, copy & past that post into the Melodicrock Summertime Rerun Thread.

IMPORTANT: Don’t forget to include the name of the author of you entry as well as the name of the thread that your copied your entry from.

Here, let me start things off with my very favorite MR post of all:

By YoungJRNY in the thread entitled *”Don’t Shoot The Messenger --- Perry Recording Music”:

Does anyone see a trend over the past.....uh...... 13 years or so with these threads? It goes something like this:

#1- A loon posts an interview/snippet/paper clipping/writing on a Gatorade cap that "SMFP" is "working on a new album" and then proceeds to get excited. Not only that BUT MAKES IT KNOWN IN THEIR POST by writing in CAPS in some area's to magnify their excitement.

#2- More excitement is followed by other posters who pump their fist at the fact that BELIEVING is the key and puts " " after everything they say.

#3- The asshole comes in and shits on the parade, stating that we've been here, done this, and won't believe it until they either hear the new album blasted on the radio, or a single goes to "#1" on the charts.

#4- Bickering back and forth occurs about what the asshole has to say and that this time this news is "reliable" and "real."

#5- By this time, the talk starts up about people predicting how many pages this thread will go just because it has Steve Perry in the title.

#6- The well thought out reason on why Perry WILL and SHOULD put out this CD, mostly for the fans.

#7- The poster in #6 triggers the next poster to give make a post about how pissed off they are about how "SMFP" hasn't came out with anything recently and proceeds to pound their chest about how mad they are about it.

#8- Asshole #2 comes in and says it'll never happen, and get over it.

#9- More fighting over #8.

#10- Flame wars start to occur, and this triggers displeasure about the Augeri years and how it "just isn't the same.." and that "the magic isn't there.."

#11- The Soto loyalists come out of the wood work and vow that they've been thinking about what the band did to JSS and proceed that they are done with Journey all together.

#12- The poster of "Can't we all just get along" poster shows up

#13- It's starting to get personal, and people start calling out when Andrew will lock this thread.

#14- Deano makes his cameo and "mother fucks" a poor soul into oblivion.

#15- Arnel's accent is the reason why Journey won't go anywhere, and Friga is gay comments start to flush.

#16- There will be no other like Steve Perry, and his voice will forever live in infamy.

#17- Is a reunion tour possible?

#18- More flaming wars over the question in #17. There will be no more Journey with Perry because Neal is a midget who has too many girlfriends who divorce him.

#19- Andrew is only 2 hours away from getting up, so you better get things in before it's locked..

#20- Kevin Chalfant should of been the right choice for Perry's replacement in 1998

#21- I got screwed and cheated in 2005, and blame Augeri for ruining my life.

#22- Perry's new record will smash anything Journey has ever done.

#23-LOCKED

*Yes, I know the thread is locked, but it’s still readable & this post is definitely worthy of an encore

Once upon a time.....In the land of journey force.......

Postby artist4perry » Mon Jul 27, 2009 3:39 am

Deb and a few others have asked for a bedtime story, so here we go:

Dallas Texas. 1986 ROR tour. CP & I are backstage in the band's dressing room doing an interview with Jon & Neal for the journey force newsletter. SP, RJ & MB are dressed and ready for the show and have left the dressing room before we get there. The opening act is on stage. The noise is awful and it's hard to hear so Jon shuts the door. That only helps for a minute as people keep opening the door and sticking their heads in. We finally decide to lock the door so we can get the interview done in relative quiet.

A few minutes later, we hear furious pounding on the door. Jon opens it and there stands SP, whom we had locked out of the dressing room. The band members had a secret knock they used when they encountered locked doors backstage & at the hotel. It consisted of a single loud thump. Apparently SP was doing the secret knock but no one heard it because of the bass drum noise from the opening band. Someone whispers "uh-oh" and we laugh nervously. Steve's face looks like a thunder cloud. CP & I didn't know him well back then so figured we were both dead. Luckily it's time for the band to go on stage, so everyone heads out.

Fast forward to around midnight. Concert is over and CP & I have made our way back to the hotel. We are trying to get in the elevator to go to our room but find that all the elevators have been disabled by security as the band members are on their way. We try to hide behind a potted plant, but SP sees us & motions us into the elevator with a "we need to talk" look on his face. We end up in the elevator with SP, Smokey (Journey's head of security), and Steve's friend and writing buddy, Randy Goodrum. After some discussion, he invites everyone to his room where we do one of our best Journey Force interviews with him, and then chow down on Mexican food until 3am.

Who knew that locking one door would open another.

LB & CP

Not that this one was funny, but that I thought it was cool Lora and Cyndy took the time to share an old memory.

That photo says it all, what losses and that lovely Koala begging for water, they don't even drink water in the wild, that was how dehydrated they were. They get water from the leaves they eat normally. Andrew, Ari, how are things healing? :(

I think one of the funniest captions I ever read was by TNC. It was a pic of Neal's contorted face playing guitar and TNC's caption was friggin hilarious.........I tried to find it, but I can't. He said something like it looked like his grandad's face as the nurse from the old folks home came in with a garden trowel to clean his messy pants. Can't remember exactly, but his caption fit the pic to a T, I laughed like hell. I know Dave (ConversationPC) found and added it to a quotable thread once..........so Dave if you know which one I'm talking about and can search it up, I can't seem to find it.

Man Rules: Women Rule Period

Postby artist4perry » Mon Jul 27, 2009 7:52 am

Duncan wrote:
THE MAN RULES
AT LAST A GUY HAS TAKEN THE TIME TO WRITE THIS ALL DOWN

FINALLY,THE GUYS' SIDE OF THE STORY. (MUST ADMIT, IT'S PRETTY GOOD.) WE ALWAYS HEAR"THE RULES"
FROM THE FEMALE SIDE. NOW HERE ARE THE RULES FROM THE MALE SIDE.

THESE ARE OUR RULES! PLEASE NOTE.. THESE ARE ALL NUMBERED "1 " ON PURPOSE!

THE WOMAN RULES, PERIOD. And we don't need no stinking numbers to prove it!

1.MEN ARE NOT MIND READERS.
dogs are intuitive, god bless em!

1. LEARN TO WORK THE TOILET SEAT. YOU'RE A BIG GIRL. IF IT'S UP, PUT IT DOWN. WE NEED IT UP, YOU NEED IT DOWN. YOU DON'T HEAR US COMPLAINING ABOUT YOU LEAVING IT DOWN.
teach a dog to “beg” to go out to pee instead of all around your clean bathroom, you’re set.. Men should learn from dogs.

1. SUNDAY SPORTS IT'S LIKE THE FULL MOON OR THE CHANGING OF THE TIDES. LET IT BE.
blow jobs, don’t always expect them when you want them. especially if your organ reeks of urine or dirty fingers from when you scratched your ass.

1. CRYING IS BLACKMAIL.
cry in front of a dog and he/she will empathetically cry with you. Men should learn from dogs.

1. ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT. LET US BE CLEAR ON THIS ONE: SUBTLE HINTS DO NOT WORK! STRONG HINTS DO NOT WORK! OBVIOUS HINTS DO NOT WORK! JUST SAY IT!
find a man who knows the word “subtle.”

1. YES AND NO ARE PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE ANSWERS TO ALMOST EVERY QUESTION.
“yes, you are balding, and yes you should hit the gym and tone your body.” “no, I will not lick your ass ‘cause I am not a hooker.”

1. COME TO US WITH A PROBLEM ONLY IF YOU WANT HELP SOLVING IT. THAT'S WHAT WE DO.
SYMPATHY IS WHAT YOUR GIRLFRIENDS ARE FOR.
problem solving is not a big deal as long as we don’t ask you to solve it. it’s the multiple orgasms we wish you guys were capable of. a dog is always available for a sympathetic hug, belly rub or just to sit and be with it’s owner because it knows it is loved. in closing: learn compassion from a dog and learn to have multiple orgasms.

1. ANYTHING WE SAID 6 MONTHS AGO IS INADMISSIBLE IN AN ARGUMENT. IN FACT, ALL COMMENTS BECOME NULL AND VOID AFTER 7 DAYS.
which is why we have to bring them up over and over again.

1. IF YOU THINK YOU'RE FAT, YOU PROBABLY ARE. DON'T ASK US.
If you think you are balding, you are. Dogs will take you fat, skinny, bald, ugly, smelly, old, crusty, paralyzed, retching……..men should learn from dogs

1. IF SOMETHING WE SAID CAN BE INTERPRETED TWO WAYS AND ONE OF THE WAYS MAKES YOU SAD OR ANGRY, WE MEANT THE OTHER ONE
learn to be tactful and appreciative and you’ll get more respect, sex anytime, anywhere, compassion, attention, blow jobs anytime, anywhere….

1. YOU CAN EITHER ASK US TO DO SOMETHING OR TELL US HOW YOU WANT IT DONE. NOT BOTH. IF YOU ALREADY KNOW BEST HOW TO DO IT, JUST DO IT YOURSELF.
yeap, which is why dildos are a popular and necessary accessary

1. WHENEVER POSSIBLE, PLEASE SAY WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO SAY DURING COMMERCIALS.
whenever possible please learn to fart with your ass sticking out of the window.

1. CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS DID NOT NEED DIRECTIONS AND NEITHER DO WE.
Christopher Columbus’ wife/girlfriend slipped a note with directions in his pocket before he left. Chris thought he wrote the note

1. ALL MEN SEE IN ONLY 16 COLORS, LIKE WINDOWS DEFAULT SETTINGS. PEACH, FOR EXAMPLE, IS A FRUIT, NOT A COLOR. PUMPKIN IS ALSO A FRUIT. WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MAUVE IS.
No biggie, it's merely a glitch in the matrix that is a man's brain. Women can let that one slide.

1. IF IT ITCHES, IT WILL BE SCRATCHED. WE DO THAT.
Yea, but dogs look more natural scratching 'cause.....THEY ARE DOGS!!

1. IF WE ASK WHAT IS WRONG AND YOU SAY "NOTHING," WE WILL ACT LIKE NOTHING'S WRONG.
WE KNOW YOU ARE LYING, BUT IT IS JUST NOT WORTH THE HASSLE.
fine, then it’s not worth the hassle to be the dutifle girlfriend/wife until you realize what you did wrong, is it?

1. IF YOU ASK A QUESTION YOU DON'T WANT AN ANSWER TO, EXPECT AN ANSWER YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR.
learn to be tactful and appreciative and you’ll get more respect, sex anytime, anywhere, compassion, attention, blow jobs anytime, anywhere….

1. WHEN WE HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE, ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING YOU WEAR IS FINE..REALLY
then simply say “yes, you look great” or “no, you don’t look bad.” simple and easy. Women are verbal, work with us here!

1. DON'T ASK US WHAT WE'RE THINKING ABOUT UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO DISCUSS SUCH TOPICS AS BASEBALL OR MOTOR SPORTS
and when we do discuss sports or anything male orientated, don’t get your ego in a bunch when we know what we are talking about.

1. YOU HAVE ENOUGH CLOTHES.
a woman never has enough clothes as her body changes constantly. especialy after she’s pushed your bad-ass, spoiled brat kids out of her crotch or had them cut out of her belly like a f**king fish! never forget that!

1. YOU HAVE TOO MANY SHOES.
a woman never has enough shoes as her body changes constantly. especially after she’s pushed your bad-ass, spoiled brat kids out of her crotch or had them cut out of her belly like a f**king fish and her feet are swelled up! never forget that! plus, shoes are in a woman’s DNA like pissing on the street instead of finding the nearest public toilet is in a man’s DNA.

1. I AM IN SHAPE. ROUND IS A SHAPE!
A fit, tone and muscular body will get you more sex and blow jobs anytime, anywhere. period.

1. THANK YOU FOR READING THIS. YES, I KNOW, I HAVE TO SLEEP ON THE COUCH TONIGHT;
if it was up to me I’d have your ass sleeping out on the sidewalk then I would go to my “goodie drawer” and enjoy the multiple orgasms I plan to have that night.

BUT DID YOU KNOW MEN REALLY DON'T MIND THAT? IT'S LIKE CAMPING.
women love it too, gives us more room in the bed and less smelly farts to endure.

Sorry, I could not resist. Enjoy, L.

Not only do they drink from the leaves, but they get high on them also :)

Things are moving very slowly, but they are rebuilding.....animals won't return for a few years until the tress start to flower/grow again.

Improving due to a very wet winter....normally its dry and cold. But the major worry now (especially here in Tassie) is if the rain stops once October comes around. That means 6 months of rain and lush bush growth then all dries out within about 8 weeks and turns to tinderbox conditions for potential firestorms.

It's winter here, the rains have come and stuff is green again. Rebuilding is slow but happening. There was a lovely article in this last weekend's newspaper about a woman who has been collecting pretty tea cups and saucers from second hand stores and antique shops to give to those who lost their homes. One of the recipients said that she hadn't realised how much she missed having pretty things until she was given one of the tea sets. The animal toll was pretty high, but the populations seem to be recovering. The koala in the photo is now living in a wild life park, has a mate and is possibly going to be the subject and star of her own movie.
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Oh that picture.............Vger you just broke my heart into!   The human toll is unreal and the animals..............oh, we forget they are in the path too! Such treasures, human and animals lost.........

That photo says it all, what losses and that lovely Koala begging for water, they don't even drink water in the wild, that was how dehydrated they were. They get water from the leaves they eat normally. Andrew, Ari, how are things healing? :(

Ah, glad to see things are renewing themselves. Nature is a funny thing. We destroy it rebuilds. :D The tea set story is nice. People come through in the greatest ways too. Off to sign the contract for teaching today! I am so excited! My first official teaching job! I wil probably be ready for Christmas break though when it comes! LOL! You and Andrew take care, that story had me plenty worried about you two!

Improving due to a very wet winter....normally its dry and cold. But the major worry now (especially here in Tassie) is if the rain stops once October comes around. That means 6 months of rain and lush bush growth then all dries out within about 8 weeks and turns to tinderbox conditions for potential firestorms.

Andrew thanks :D It's so hard to believe Mother can be so unkind. But she knows best i guess.

Rick, don't think I've ever seen you so angry...

I'm alright. I don't like some kid calling me a coward though. Kids today have zero respect.

Deacon :Well, Rick, in all seriousness, I have a specific philosophy on "respect." I have always maintained the thought that respect is earned, not given. You simply demanding respect without the demeanor to earn it is quite sad.

Rick:You aren't old enough to have a philosophy. Shush. Run outside and play hide and go fuck yourself.

Art4perry:I am crying, Rick.........I mean seriously, laughing my butt off! Darn! MG it is contagious!

Rick:One of my favorite sayings.

Semi-factoid - they don't actually get stoned, but their system spends so much time processing and eliminating the poisons in their food that they spend most of their time asleep conserving energy. One of the reasons why they tend to be grumpy little sods, and why their urine smells like a men's urinal liberally splashed with eucalyptus oil (and is incredibly hard to get out of clothes!)

Something you might not have known - the closest relation to the koala is the wombat. Koalas are wombats that learned to climb trees, and their pouchs still have the opening towards their hindlegs; makes perfect sense for a burrowing animal that doesn't want a pouch full of dirt, not so sensible in an animal that climbs trees.
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!
