AFTER THE FALL ?

Postby PianoMan1986 » Wed Jul 29, 2009 7:26 am

Just wondering when was the last time this song was performed during a tour?

I've heard Deen sing it a few times. I believe he sang it in Vegas last year. In fact, I'm almost positive. I should remember because I was (physically) there.

If you are looking to blow out someone's vocal chords, play that song every night in the original key. One of my favorites though.

I've got a couple versions of it where Steve doesn't quite sing it so perfectly. The long extended high note 'FAAALL' is quite flat and about 6 notes lower than he intended. lol

Bullshit. Post it or get that out. A little flat? Possibly. 6 notes lower than intended? That's silly.

Yea, identify! I like your video contributions, but where do you stand. Can't really tell yet. You seem like you're a SP person, but you've been on both sides so far. Hmm......

Probably a boot from the ROR tour. He was singing injured there for a while, so he wasn't at his best, but was no where near as bad as he says.

I'm sure she's hyperbolizing... as for others asking what "side" she's on, maybe she just has a *gasp* BALANCED, OBJECTIVE outlook on things Journey?

I am on both sides. Actually, 4 sides. Perry, Augeri, Pineda, Soto.

SJ was talking about the one with Pineda. He was at two Vegas shows in 08, so I'm not sure which one he was referencing, but I was at the first one, and Deen sang two songs that night. Mother, Father, which made it on the DVD and another song, and it may have been After The Fall, but I don't remember for sure.

That was cool! Deen's da man.....by far, my favorite current Journey member. :) But that isn't the Vegas one from this lineup, cuz Augeri's in it.

I guess if I would have actually watched more than five seconds of the video, I would have seen Augeri.

Listen at 3:50 Steve didn't hit the high note, just like I said.

I guess it just depends on which show you listen to. This one sounds pretty clean when he gets to the same note and it's the same tour. I think it was a case of him jumping off the note on the other version, more then singing it in a lower key. He wasn't going to hit it so he adlibbed into a falsetto.I think he has admitted to doing things like that before to keep from damaging his voice on certain songs.

Uh-oh.

Now, of course you know, ror92, this is going to set off a storm of Loons rushing in to Stevies defense. I'll just start the quibbling by saying I'm not quite sure that last blast was a full 6 notes lower.

I worded it wrong. 6 semi-tones. About 3 notes. Ah well, let them rush at me in Steve's defense, I don't care. I'm sure Steve wasn't happy that he missed that note, too.

Should someone start a thread about their favorite poor note by their various, favorite singers?

Is this the Philly Show? I was at that show. They were playing with those panties that got thrown on stage during that part of the song. No wonder he jumped off the note, he was distracted (lame excuse, I know but It's true I tell you).
