As for the movie, it sounds like another "special effects" offering. It seems the special effects industry has taken over the movie business. I often don't even care if the actors get offed in gory ways 'cause you don't even get a chance to like the characters in the first place.

If you google it and do some research (of course there are some whack-jobs out there), it is kinda scary. It's not just some crazy threat. There are real scientific facts of a lot of changes and events (planet and solar system wise) that are probably going to effect us. I'm not saying we're all going to die, but it really makes you wonder what's going to happen.

Well, maybe that's one reason I wanted to win a house...I could sell it and move to the country. I'd rather be living in the country than on the fourth floor of ratty building if disaster ever does strike! :)

Where the Mayan calendar "ends" isn't THE "end"...in a sense, it 'loops' to the beginning of the next 'age'...or somethin' like that.

Yet most of you close minded republicans do NOT believe in something scientifically proven such as Global Warming but you may believe in this fairy tail bullshit?

I can't figure you freaks out.

Scientists say we're actually experiencing symptoms indicative of the onset of the earliest stage of a new ice age.

Link?

Ice caps from Greenland and other ice occupied states have shrunk, big time.

Global Warming is real.

Global warming isn't so much about the world getting hotter overall (it's always been 115F in my neck of the woods in the summer!!), it's about temperature extremes. Glaciers will continue to diminish, ice caps will continue to melt down, and huge shelves of ice will continue to break off into the ocean. Sea level will continue to rise, and we'll keep dumping trash into the ocean. Then in the cold season, you'll start seeing more rain and heavier snowfall.

Remember the Millenium scare? When all computer related stuff was going to come to a crashing halt because systems weren't geared to accept 4-digit years? Nothing happened of that, and nothing will happen of this. Pure pie in the sky BS.

And I don't remember the details, but didn't Nostadamus predict some stuff that never materialized?

He got lucky. Hell I predicted the Superfecta of the 123rd Kentucky Derby and didn't bet on it. So who gives a shit right? My 12 yr old son gave me 40 bucks to bet and I told him I would, but told myself, "no fucking way is this going to happen Bruce." So I went out an bet some other races. Sure enough, his top 4 come in. I had to tell him I missed the window time for betting. He was and still is pissed.

I've never said that the earth hasn't warmed and cooled tard! I've stated that we've had warmer AND cooler climates all throughout our history. We've had several ice ages. What caused the earth to warm up back then? We didn't have factories or cars back then? Was it caused by some gassy wolly mammoths?  \

This earth has ALWAYS had fluctuations in it's climate. They're caused by solar activity... PERIOD! Solar flares high= warm climate. Solar flares low= it's time to get a damn jacket! It's not too hard to figure out.

Another thing... I am all for doing what we can to protect and preserve the environment... when it makes sense! Farmers in Oregon have had their irrigation water taken from them for years now, because of a 3 inch sucker fish. Liberal scientists showed flawed data to law makers showing that the suckers needed more water to be able to survive. The government shut off the irrigation canals to the farmers (who have used these for generations) to help the sucker fish. Now that these fish have had higher water levels, guess what? They're numbers are now LOWER than what they were before the government stepped in! You'd think this would make the government realize that the water wasn't the issue, and give access back to the farmers, but no! Many of these farmers have now lost farms that have been in there families for generations. All because of a damn fish that is worthless! That's fucking stupid!

I could say the same thing about the spotted owl. They shut down 60 percent of Oregon's logging industry (which accounted for about 60 percent of the states revenue) all for a damn owl. This put thousands of families out of work, many businesses out of work, and some entire towns have been deserted because the loggers are no longer there to support them. That's politicians for ya. But guess what? They've learned years ago that spotted owls don't need anywhere NEAR the land that they originally thought to survive. Did they then open access to the logging companies? HELL NO! It's not about an owl or a fish... it's about government control. Animals come before people. I'm not for stripping a forest, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with selective cutting, which they've been doing for a long time. It actually makes forests healthier!

Now about your buddy Al Gore... he really cares about the environment!  On Earth Day, all of the "Environmentally friendly" people in the world observed this day by turning off their electricity for 1 hour. Al Gore? NOPE! he still had all of the trees lit up on his property just outside his non-energy efficient mansion. He was probably flying around in the country somewhere in his private jet burning all that fuel into the atmosphere. He really cares about the environment!

Now as far as the whole 2012 thing goes... go research it and get back to me! I don't believe everything I read (and there are a lot of nut-jobs out there), but there are a lot of undisputed facts about several unique things happening with the planets. There are planets aligning for the first time in like 30,000 years. There are also planets from the next solar system that are going to come very close to ours. Scientists have said that these events may actually change the gravitational pull on the earth. if that happens... all hell's gonna break loose! Go research it, then get back to me Nancy!

BTW... I just realized that I replied to your wrong quote! I meant to reply to your first post to me. I'm conservative... but I DO make mistakes every once in a while. :D

Anyone seen this documentary? "The Great Global Warming Swindle"

Not saying it's right or wrong but it's definitely an extremely interesting 'different' point of view.

Link?

Ice caps from Greenland and other ice occupied states have shrunk, big time.

Global Warming is real.

Exactly. It's like when the news says "This is the hottest day since 1456" .... so where was global warming in 1456?!

It's all bloody stupid. The Earth goes through cylces.
