It was charity concerts set up way b/f the gig with Superbowl was set. I believe he cancelled one when the SB was set, but not Friday's. He was not the main artist for the concert, Lani was, but he was a featured singer, who of course was the big draw. He did fly in and was there Saturday and Sunday, of course. I remember Jonathan Cain mentioned on a radio show they were requiring them to be there two days and he thought it was silly but whatever. I believe Jon and Neal were too lax about it also b/c it's songs they've done so often and didn't foresee what happened. I don't think they had a problem with Arnel's Friday concert. Big mistake in hindsight by all parties.

And, yes, Arnel is doing a fabulous job this year.

Jana - I'm certainly not one to argue with you since we are ususally on the same side except where it comes to U2. We'll just have to agree to disagree on that one.

They were sitll monekying around with venues even after the SuperBowl was annouced. I'm sure if AP had insisted the whole mini-tour with Lani could have been rescheduled. I just question AP's priorities on this one. Also, I heard the radio interview with Jon as well and he was led into making that statement. Folks also heard Journey onstage saturday going through the setlist without AP.

It's probably a hundred miles from Malibu so between an hour to two drive for all three of them. They've got shuttles every day of the week out of L.A. hitting all three places also, about 25 bucks for a ride.

U2 will always be one of my very favorite bands although I do have to agree with Deano on The Fly. I didn't care for U2’s Fly-Zoo-punk rock period. Other than that, I love their music. “Bad” is by far one of my favorite songs (other than Bono’s brief Kermit The Frog impersonation). Lyrically, U2’s music is the type that makes you think.....none of that “fluff” to fill the gaps. It’s spiritual without being religious. I don’t have a problem with Bono’s social activism. That, in part, is what prompted me to volunteer my own time in the clean-up efforts of Katrina.
