What's my opinion? The FACT that they're selling out their venues? The FACT that Revelations has sold quite well? The FACT that they're touring and having WORLDWIDE success? These things aren't my opinion.

But, I'll excuse you and let you get to some comedic routines. I know that's what everyone, including myself, wants to see.

you know, your trying to get me riled up but I dont do that on the keyboard these days. U aint gotta excuse jack shit with me. Revelations sold well because people saw the greatest hits disc, then got home , listened to it and realized it wasnt Steve Perry. I know this because several people told me that. And if it was that rampant in south Georgia then I know its all over. Selling out venues. Thats a joke. When I went last year you know how many people had no idea it wasnt the same band as 1983? Dont......

If you think that I'm purposefully trying to rile you up, despite the excuse I gave you in the post that you quoted, then I'll leave you be for tonight. We'll leave this for another time.

Excellent idea...for a change!!!

had dinner yet tonight MG? I know this great little place.....

LOL..yes I have, but you need to if you haven't!!!!

I'll pick you up in 30 minutes gorgeous eyes....roses in hand and the ragtop down!

You said MG has gorgeous eyes. I need proof. A picture or 2 would be cool. {just filling in for SW2 while he's gone} :lol: {maybe I should have misspelled a few words}

Hey St. John!!

IF Kevin wrote them or CO wrote them, then he can release them IF HE OWNS THE RECORDINGS ...HOWEVER, I highly doubt he would 100% own recordings with those cats on it....so, he can RE RECORD them as a cowriter...ie, I wrote a bunch of stuff with Frankie Sullivan for the new Survivor album, I can at ANY TIME record those tracks myself...I wouldnt of course, but thats the point....I would NOT own the Survivor recording just as KC would probably not own those recordings....hope that makes some sense...but as a writer I could RE RECORD them when ever I feel like it, and if they changed the lyrics I could go record them with my original lyrics....It becomes legal gobblygook but I hope I answered the question....thats why you work with people you trust....

In the end, St. John would be correct....

JV

And, let me say that KC never said he had RECORDINGS in his sock drawer, just songs. You people are ASSUMING he meant recordings - and I absolutely do not believe that is what he meant.

The possibilities were limitless.

Prove it. I do not believe you have any idea who owns those songs and are just guessing.

How are you going to prove what a good source has told you.
My source was Greg Rolie him self, thats my proof, but how would you fucking know he told me anything!
Well as far as Saint John goes,he has to be telling the truth because I heard the same thing he did.

Nobody thought that Perry was on the GH because they were labeled as "12 re-records with NEW LEAD SINGER ARNEL PINEDA" right on the package. Furthermore, no one thinks Perry is still in the fucking band, save for a few dolts. Augeri was on Behind The Fucking Music, which I believe at the time was the most popular one ever, and the Pineda story has been on and in everything from Ellen, to The CBS Sunday Show, to GQ and they performed at the Super Bowl. The Perry excuses for anything are total horseshit. No merit at all. None. Fuck, the Walmart circular had a 10 foot cardboard poster of the band with an obviously Asian fellow in there and the band was playing to a small huddles mass on every TV in the electronics section. Everyone knows Nostrildamus is gone. Find a better excuse.

not at my walmart Dan. How much longer do you think the youtube story will carry them?
It's not. I saw Augeri in Journey 30 or so times and I have never heard reviews and apllause from fans like I did at the 8 shows I went to last year. That, sir, has nothing to do with youtube. That's called winning over fans on merit in a live setting.

The bottom line is that Arnel Brings it!
I am a firm beliver and please do not get me wrong here .Do you all really think that Revelation would have had the sucess with Augeri or soto,I think not!Sold out concerts and Tickets sales will surpass album sales for Revelation if they hadn't already!
Arnel Pineda brings it big time to the stage every nite!So did Jeff Scott Soto, but Jeff was not for Journey.
Jeff will be biger without Journey.
The bottom line is when you look at it,the Pinoy people make up half the croud, that is why all the concerts are selling out.
Even with new great music,I think if Augeri were still fronting Journey Revelation would have ended up like Arrival and Generation's!I love and Miss Steve Augeri with all my heart and I have the utmost resoect for him but I call it as I hear it!
Aenel brings it like no other,Steve Perry will always be the voice but come on there are more to vocal's.
In Steve Perrys prime he wasn't as good of a intertainer that Arnel is,oh boy he spun around from time to time.
He wore tight pants so his shlank would protrude out,who fucking cared about that shit except the chicks and the Homo's!
Oh my God he wore the leopard print and the tails tonight and you could see the head of his cock threw the tight pants
what the fuck was that shit all about.
I would rather see Arnel do his thing any day over any other singer that has ever fronted Journey.
I have seen Journey 90 times now since 1977 32 of those concerts was with Steve Perry, I think I know a bit what I am talking about. When I go to concerts its like school for me I have studied everybody in the band for year's.
The You Tube thing is not carring the band by far,Arnel is every nite with his out standing performance.
If Arnel were to leave the band, concert and album sales would be back to were they were,I gaurentee it!!!

IGator, I think album sales will go down on the next release with arnel. Like I said, the curiosity novelty has wore off. No re-released GH package to draw in the casual CD buyers. Only the Journey die hards and the arnel fans will hit the next one.

Frank, I don’t know you so believe me when I say I’m not trying to be an instigator but I just have to comment on two of the points you made in your post.

First, in reference to Arnel you said, “The bottom line is when you look at it,the Pinoy people make up half the croud, that is why all the concerts are selling out.” How does that support your argument? If anything, it discredits what you’re trying to say b/c OF COURSE Pinoy people are going to want to hear their boy sing. That doesn’t prove they’re attending concerts b/c Arnel’s a master at his craft. When I played Romeo in my 5th grade class’ rendition of “Romeo & Juliet” half of the audience was made up of members of my family. Was I THAT great at playing Romeo or were they there just to support me?

Second, in reference to Perry you said, “He wore tight pants so his shlank would protrude out,who fucking cared about that shit except the chicks and the Homo's!” You say that like they’re the “unimportant extra’s.” You just dismissed the money making portion of the audience. If you eliminated this fan base from the Perry-Journey days, Journey would have folded back in 1982! Sure, Perry can sing. No one’s denying the man has talent. Still, the straight-guy fan demographic alone would not have been enough to keep the band from going under.

Arrival sold around 250k with almost no promotion/radio play and without probably THE largest retailer pimping it out in every store at an incredible discount. Playing by Revelations' rules, a re-record CD would have made Arrival Gold on its own.

Frank Martinez wrote:Sold out concerts and Tickets sales will surpass album sales for Revelation if they hadn't already!

Don't forget that the Arrival tour was one of the top grossing tours of 2001. The band's first large scale tour since 1986.

Frank Martinez wrote:Even with new great music,I think if Augeri were still fronting Journey Revelation would have ended up like Arrival and Generation's!

There wouldn't have been a Revelations if Augeri was still fronting the band. Augeri himself said that he had to convince the rest of the band to work on Generations. Once Neal found his new gimmick... erm, motivation... then he was ready to make new music.

If Arnel were to leave the band, concert and album sales would be back to were they were,I gaurentee it!!!

Thank god opinions are not fact, eh? IMO, Pineda is mediocre.

Maybe in California they make up a huge portion of the audience. But I've never ever heard that, 50 percent Filipino the norm, no way. At my concert it wasn't even a fraction close to that nor at my friends' concerts in a couple other states b/c we discussed that. And on Arnel's site they used to discuss how many Filipinos were at each concert they were at, and it sounded like normally ten percent and maybe up to twenty percent at certain venues. Except in Las Vegas show last year, Filipino fans flying in from all over.

And Jason is right on the female demographics for Journey b/c of Perry.

But I agree with Frank, Arnel is giving outstanding performances at every concert and that's what is impressing the audiences, not the old YouTube story.

I agree, it must depend on where you live and the demographics. Even in Red Rocks I did not experience half the audience as Filipino. I saw a general mixed audience that I see at ALL the classic rock concerts I have attended in the last year. And I saw an entire venue of people on their feet going nuts and singing and dancing to the music. And yes, Vegas had many Filipino people, but it was the beginning of the tour last year and people were excited and plus it was known they were going to be shooting there for their DVD, so maybe that made a difference. Plus Vegas isn't far from California. I don't believe that has anything to do with ticket sales.

I think Jana is right about the percentage of Filipinos. The only time Journey had more than 50% Filipinos in attendance was at MOA.

While some are diminishing the talent of Arnel, he is quietly winning the hearts and minds of the casual fans. And the casual fans care only for great music, great band with a frontman that can make them sing like there's no tomorrow.

The screaming and very enthusiastic crowd from Japan, China, Hawaii and now US mainland is no laughing matter.
