Well, hello there Dean. Chubby is not a Pinoy, she is a Pinay. So all this time you thought you were addressing a man? LOL

What a douche! She should kick you in the fuckin nads.

you tosser.....

Whatever, Pinoy, Pinay, they both are equally fucked in this argument. I am sick and fucking tired of dancing in political correctness squares here...while these assholes can spew their uninformed neverending bullshit. Educate yourselves on the Bands' history, then talk. Stop using the Phillipine card here when it's convenient.

By the way, I don't think Jana is dumb.

You are a shitty poster. Fuck, I hate you. You pom pom sonofabitch. Look, your boy is good, but you assholes comparing him to Perry is nauseating.

Perry deserves every fucking cent he gets from this band. Without him, they aren't touring this year. Understand that asshole? Perry's coat tails carried these slugs for so long, and it's proven even now...look at their setlist- every song the crowd comes to hear is because of Perry's voice or writing. When Neal writes a top ten song, let me know, ok?

. . . which Arnel can deliver effortlessly. Otherwise why would "the crowd" bother to come at all, right? (Running for cover!) :!:

Let's see Pineda "do it effortlessly for 12 years" and then, let's see the guy write ONE fucking hit song.

THEN and only then, can you fuckers say anything about your boy being worthy.

You stupid fuckers are clueless.

I actually admire your loyalty to him, I just wish he would give back at least.

Actually, Perry does give back. He does do charity and other things but keeps it under the radar. I remember him going to visit wounded soldiers a few years back with no fanfare whatsoever. He doesn't appear to be the type to say "Look at me, I'm doing something special". Every person who has said they met him the last few years have said he is the most gracius person ever and I'm not talking about people on this site either. If he wanted attention, it would be esy for him with all the Journey hoopla recently but he doesn't go around like other disgruntled artists looking for attention. He gets approached regularly about DSB and the music being used in the media and seems very relaxed in those interviews. It seems he is in a very comfortable place, not someone who needs his own website to tell hm he's still great. I can admire that about him. How simple it would be for him to have a virtual marketplace to pawn off merchandise and milk his fans. That would be easy money but him but he hasn't done it.
I've also never read of him saying an unkind word in any of his public interviews about the band, despite Neal's over the top comments that come out of his mouth every once in awhile. He leaves Journey alone, for the most part. It would be so easy to grab onto Neal and Jon's coat tails but he doesn't seem to have a need to do that, whether it be fromgreat financial planning earlier on his part or just finally letting the past go completely. He should be proud of the legacy he helped create and deserves what ever compensation he gets from it. Telling us the fans, how much he adores us is not needed. As long as I can continue to own the classic Journey catalog or hear classic Journey songs on the radio, I'm happy .

I was talking more about music but I don't disagree with the majority of your posts. The respect for Perry was there but fair or not, when we hear the out of this world criticism by some Perry diehards, our likeness for him is slowly diminishing, which is not fair, I know that.

Arnel also never said anything negative about Perry, he has nothing but praises for him. Arnel works hard for this band, I just hope people see that, especially the diehards.

You can't compare SP and Arnel. SP is a legendary singer/songwriter; Arnel is not. It is frustrating to longtime Journey fans to stomach some of the posts made by his fans in particular the religious, goody-goody ones. Journey is an American rock and roll band with roots in the 70s. Perry is from that era, too. I like Arnel very much but he can never be in the same league as Perry. He does not have the history.

Chubby, don't interpret that the wrong way. Journey is an American based and American established band. They are now an international band since they have branched out their touring and have included Arnel from the Philippines, but they are still based in America. I think you read more into that than you needed to...just sayin.

Fredinator is a diehard fan who loves Journey and Arnel too, from what I've read. Before someone tries to twist that into something it's not, remember JSS wasn't exactly a blonde , blue eyed Anglosaxon himself.

Frankly, with the possible exception of Fleischman, Journey's lead-singers have been a virtual "Colours of Benetton" ad. I'll say once again, even Perry himself is a somewhat swarthy gentleman. So, while we cannot completely deny that for some there may be resistance to Arnel on the basis of ethnicity, it really doesn't hold much water.

50 is the new 30, which I will be at the end of this month. Old is in the head. I'm 20 something there. The other day I was out on the river with a friend in a 32" Fountain Lightning going close to 100MPH. We had no problems filling the boat with young bikini clad women. 8) :D

I TOTALLY understand how you feel about Arnel and I guess even the "American" remark even though it wasn't meant that way. There were so many GREAT bands in the 70s that we took for granted and Journey was top of the line then, too. To me that means that SP is as legendary as Freddie Mercury or Robert Plant, etc. Those types of singers/songwriters don't seem to come around anymore for some reason. Arnel is an awesome singer--I actually liked a couple of his songs, too--though the one I really remember was pretty ballady but very pretty. If he has chemistry with Jon and Neal and the 3 of them write some really great rockin' tunes it will be beyond amazing and I really hope they do! I am all over the place with this post and I don't want to end it with a "but" because I don't think I feel like there needs to be one... I think in order for Arnel to achieve the same greatness as Perry would be for someone to invent a time machine and we all go back to the 70s or 60s for that matter...

I agree, MG. Journey is an American Rockband like Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, ect. Their songs convey that in their lyrics. Songs like Lights, DSB, Dixie HighWay, Keep On Runnin', Too Late and Still They Ride contain lyrics that are rich in Small town/Big City Americana idealism. It's just a fact, these are songs written by people who grew up here and conveyed that experience into their songs.

I've been a member here since October 2008 with only 40 posts so far although I spent way much more time here than on AP's 2 sites. I've been lurking from outside the fence trying to learn the ropes and toughen-up my 'guts and sense of humor' on how the games are being played 'in this sand box'. Now I feel confident that I am ready to step into the sand box . . . hell, even with Deano in it, mano-a-mano. :D

You're also right about the shit that was thrown at Arnel when he became frontman and it was absolutely disgraceful. There were a few of us that defended him to the end though. I don't think Dean started out defending Arnel but he came along fairly soon after he was announced; I know I did; there were others, I think a lot more others, that came to his defense. Some folks just don't make a musical connection with him. Maybe that will change if he starts writing, who knows? I don't think it's personal though...

Old.

Chubster, remember when you play in this sand box ya gotta bring your guts and sense of humor with you.

I've been a member here since October 2008 with only 40 posts so far although I spent way much more time here than on AP's 2 sites. I've been lurking from outside the fence tyring to learn the ropes and toughen-up my 'guts and sense of humor' on how the games are being played 'in this sand box'. Now I feel confident that I am ready to step into the sand box . . . hell, even with Deano in it, mano-a-mano. :D

Well, you can see how well it's worked for me.

"LOVE, PEACE, HAPPINESS . . . ALWAYS"

Not with a gay signature like that. Change it to Deano eats Dick for a couple of weeks just to get yourself started on the right foot.
