Did Jon Cain co-write songs on TLB album with Sammy Hagar?

I just happened to see this on the credits to a Sammy Hagar song:

Song Name: Remember The Heroes
Artist Name: Sammy Hagar
Album: Three Lock Box
Songwriters: John L Friga, Sammy Hagar
Release Date: 1983.01.01
Label: Geffen Records


Jon Cain's former name was Jon L. Friga until he changed it to Jon Cain... is this the same guy? Did they use his old name in the credits to keep the Journey band members from worrying about Sammy stealing Friga away, or is this another John L. Friga altogether?

John Friga is Jonathan Cain, and my guess is that the song was registered with a publishing company that still had his given name as the composer...
