When you read things like that, it makes you wonder why the band would be in such a hurry to put out a new album, especially without the killer royalty rate they got from Wal-Mart. I dare say, it's true for the majority of older bands and probably one of the reasons Foreigner hadn't released anything until they got their own Wal-Mart deal. Without an exclusive deal through the big box stores, it's probably financially better to just tour an extra 4 months each year, rather than spending money on pushing an album that might not give you a good return monetarily.

From every review I read, I get the impression that Journey could drop the three Rev songs from the set list and they wouldn't be missed.
I think NWA is a great tune but as long as they play BGTY later in the set, you wouldn't really be missing anything as both songs are very similar.
The average fan from any classic rock band could give 3 shits about any new stuff, most of the fans Including me] are about half drunk when they get there. But I do like the new stuff, if I buy the Cd before hand and get famlier with it first. Although when Journey opened up with Only the Young in 86, i liked it right away ,and i never heard it before

Heart and Journey July 26 at Taco Bell Arena

Journey also put on a helluva show. The audience tolerated tracks from the band's new release, Revelations, but lost their damn collective mind from the first chords of "Open Arms," "Separate Ways," "Faithfully" and, of course, "Don't Stop Believin'," which is, I believe, the most downloaded single track in iTunes history.

The one glitch in the night was that guitar player Neal Schon still believes that every song must have a guitar solo. He's an incredible player, but watching him was like peeking through a keyhole; he was so engrossed in his own self-pleasure that, at times, the audience seemed incidental.

New frontman Arnel Pineda, on the other hand, was so into the crowd, that at one point he joined them in the front row. His high-energy antics were as much a visual pleasure as his clear, strong voice was aural. Not that they've asked me, but I think Journey made a good choice in the young singer.

Jonathan Cain is still a fine keyboard/piano player (mullet and all) and bassist Ross Valory is still bassist Ross Valory. The standout of the night was drummer Deen Castronovo whose version of "Mother, Father" was stunning. Here's where I may lose you, but on that song, Castronovo's vocals could rival Pineda's or Perry's. Sorry purists, but it's true.

L E A V E N E A L A L O N E    Bring on those guitar solos. What's wrong with a little voyeurism? It works for me.

I knew it! The very second I read that part about Neal, you were the one who immediately came to mind (OMG! Jana will freak out!).

You're not an active band unless you create and play new music. Without Revelation, they would have lost me after the JSS thing. And they should be playing and releasing Change for the Better. Also, "Where did I lose your Love" is getting played...including a TON on Sirius, so they should be playing that too.

Journey could get away with opening up with 'Only the Young' back then. The ROR tour was a greatest hits tour by all accounts. Every song they played, with the exception of 'Suzanne' was either a big hit at the time of the tour, or a big hit from a previous album. 'Only the Young' and 'Ask the Lonely' weren't even released yet, but they still got a great response from the crowd. That's why they could start out with 2 of the first 4 songs of the set being new ones.

Watch that again. It wasn't a thong or panties. It was one of those cheap painter Frontier lids.
