Things seem to be clicking this year, or is it just me?

Postby steveo777 » Wed Aug 05, 2009 6:56 pm

Besides the super bowl stall, it seems like the band is sounding better and better and the reviews just keep on being pretty great. I'm just saying this as an observation, but so far, this seems to be a pretty stellar year for Journey. I don't know, but it sounds and feels like things have finally clicked into place. Band is very tight an the members all appear happy with each other. I also understand, from life's past experiences that when something is going very well, you damn well better be looking over your shoulder, because there is usually someting sneaking up on you. ( oh wait, that was just Perry knocking on the door wanting his royalty check) 8)

All kidding aside and no pom-poms, I think they are doing a hell of a job. All should be proud....even that little Pinoy bastard.  8)

I watched his vid from Graspop and at the end of One More when he was walking down the stage, the smile just said it all. They're good people.

your post should make a lot of eyebrows raised.

i dunno about sounding good.
its tuned down.

but with the band being tight and all, i couldnt see any inter action with pineda and cain.
other than cain, pointing to him as "the thrilla from manila!"

i could say this though:
i think we all could just sit down and enjoy the music they are playing and hope for fresh ones to come.

as far as arnel's voice is concerned, i think i read it from someone here saying:
"it's just a matter of time when his voice becomes toast." and i believe that.
anyone and i repeat anyone who sings this catalogue is bound to get his pipes cracked.
they could only detune this much or otherwise it'll be pathetic.

No, not really clicking. Im going to see Def Leppard instead of them this go round. So if anything the clicking is starting to lose its teeth. Next year there will even be less clicking. All those great novelties that you buy at Spencer Gifts always lose their interest after a while. The jokes get old and tired. The great novelty known as arnel will soon face this fate...and Spencer Gifts wont refund that.

Same thing happened with Augeri. The first year he was the second coming, the second year, little chinks in the armor, the third year, the set list goes back to pre-86 material only and the tribute band comparisons begin to fly again.

No offense dude, but Def Lippard is complete crap. Journey has and always will be leaps and bounds better than that fraud of a band. Nothing they do is pure live, nothing. Piped in vocals, piped in guitars, whatever. Complete shit and they think their shit doesn't stink. Journey, love em or hate em, blows the living dick snot out of those Euro clowns, all nine arms and all. Sorry to be harsh, but that's the way it is.

I don't care if Journey goes by the wayside, but I think AP is a good story and a good dude. I just wish he'd get his ridiculous fans in order.

If they were a tape machine in 06, what makes you think they would hit the switch 3 years later? They got older, not better.

Hit Ft Lauderdale on Sept 13th for the Bruce show, and if you don't like it, I will send you a 30 pack of whatever you want. You won't go back to this cheap big hair 80's garbage. I promise you. There are few tix left in the upper mezzanine.

Poison? WTF are you on? Cheap Trick? You can see them at any eat em up pub in the land for 5 bucks.

Scarab, I saw Leppard a few weeks ago. They were great! Cheap Trick put on a great show also. Poison, not so much, but I've never been much of a fan.

Siding with RnD on this one. Really losing my interest in 80s cock rock these days. The Whitesnake/Priest concert sealed the deal for me a few weeks ago. Pure shit, and not worth the 60 bucks each ticket was.....You live and you learn.

There's good rock out there...but not much of it came from what's left of 80s bands...and I lump Journey in with said phrase '80s bands'

Hard to say at the moment. They sounded as good at Graspop as I have heard them in a long time. Pure steamroller mode. The little I have seen of Download Festival didn't seem to be quite on that level. Wouldn't expect to see the Graspop setlist again, but that would have been one show to have seen. I hope a version without the clipped sound makes itself available since I never got to download the original file before it went awol. That would be one kicking live cd. Anyone got a copy???

As far as Def Leppard goes....they were really good on the X tour, but I wasn't all that impressed either time on the Journey tour in '06. They just seemed to be going through the motions that time--and the Download Festival video shows more of the same. Maybe they will get back to that level, but my interest in their live show isn't all that high at the moment until I see/hear something to prove otherwise.
