Hi all. I've been trying to hold back but I can't stand it anymore. I have to say something about what's happening on this board, things that I have noticed and are bothering me.
I happen to have a short vacation after a long year and felt like coming back to MR. I've been completely out of the loop for a long time and I know that the best way to catch up is to read MR. This board/site is still the premiere place to keep up with everything Journey/Perry related.

Frankly, after one week of loging in here I find it annoying to read through the various Journey/Perry related threads. I swear to God it's like watching a great movie and being interrupted by bad commercials every fucking 5 minutes. I find out less about the topic and more about the latest sexual fantasies of some people on here, discover the most horrendous spelling diseases or erection issues, while I have to skip a multitude of posts filled with inside jokes that have no meaning to the rest of us. Don't get me wrong - I have enough sense of humor to understand that posts like those are fun but for cripe's sake! when 8 posts in a row are about ANYthing but the original topic, then it's becoming a pain in the ass.

And please, I don't want to hear the old lecture "Skip the posts if you don't like it". Don't worry, I skip. And skip. Humongous posts quoted over and over again until they look like the fucking Gettysburg Address. And I skip some more until my damn finger hurts. Wtf is this? Melodic Scroll?

My point is - a couple of jokes are always appreciated, sex is awesome and all, but for crying out loud leave the music/info/debates/dustup threads to flow smoothly.
Maybe it's time to make an OT thread where all of you can gather and party like it's 2012. ( We used to have a Booze Thread here and it was working great. Make a Popcorn Thread, will ya?)

From the very beginning this site along with the boards were opened for everyone whether they post or not. Just because some of us don't live/sleep/eat/drink/fart/burp/fuck 24/7 on the keyboards it doesn't mean that we can't be on here and enjoy a good topic without having to bump into endless posts about the same things that concern only a handful of people.

Thank you for your thread, Laura. I like to read about new music or music I'd forgotten. Also, I like to read an OT that might be of interest to me...and I'll throw in an aside about something that may have a connection to the topic.

I'm an outsider to this forum; however, there's a list of people I scroll through and I don't even bother to read threads they start nowadays. It seems some people have their responses on macros to me.

While I understand the desire to reduce the juvenile behavior and/or personal arguments that every thread seems to deteriorate into, I also know that this board isn't much different then most message boards in terms of what takes place when you give people free will to post whatever they like. Doesn't make it right. It is what it is. But if you also start limiting the topics to only Journey or Perry threads, etc. that always stay on topic, well the place would pretty boring after awhile. It's kind of a shame that there can't be a middle ground, which I assume that's what the OP was striving for when she created this thread. I've just learned to fly right by the posts by certain members that can't seem to ever act like an adult, and if the thread is just consumed with it, I just quickly move on.

It's kind of a shame that there can't be a middle ground, which I assume that's what the OP was striving for when she created this thread. I've just learned to fly right by the posts by certain members that can't seem to ever act like an adult, and if the thread is just consumed with it, I just quickly move on.

At what point does it become too much, though? The morality monitor crap by one particular hypocrite has been old for more than 2 years now, and I don't see any end in sight. The inside jokes and banter between folks is ok (I've been guilty myself in the past) but when it takes over nearly every thread it does get kind of annoying. The biggest problem I've seen lately is that when I get on here after being away for a while and see a thread that I'm particularly interested in, but then I have to wade through 7 pages to only find a handful of posts pertinent to the topic at hand. It's a waste of time and can be very frustrating. Then folks (myself included) may feel compelled to jump in with a jab or two out of frustration, which causes more bullshit posts. Ugh! (not aiming at anyone in particular, just general comments... except for one. )

I see both sides of the argument, and would love to see a middle ground as well.

While I understand the desire to reduce the juvenile behavior and/or personal arguments that every thread seems to deteriorate into, I also know that this board isn't much different then most message boards in terms of what takes place when you give people free will to post whatever they like. Doesn't make it right. It is what it is. But if you also start limiting the topics to only Journey or Perry threads, etc. that always stay on topic, well the place would pretty boring after awhile. Yeah, it is frustrating. I definitely has limited my time here to just a few minutes a day or every other day. I just quickly scan a thread of interest, see the before mentioned behavior, and just move on. Other than carrying a heavy fist and hoping that it doesn't prove to be counter productive to the site traffic, not sure what else Andrew can do. I think there are just some that live their lives on these boards. And there are some that look upon the drama that rages as a part of their day to day social interaction with the outside world. It's sad, but evidently true.

oh pooh pooh, this is something that goes on for ages. some people complain and are told to stf up while others come online and complain and somethng immediately happens. there are notorious folks who like to throw a thead off with meaningless banter sometimes it is considered funny and other times it's described as annoying. perhaps Andrews thread will be useful, but i doubt it!

I think the thread Andrew started will be a big help.But we never know around .heehee
