Journey is an American rock band formed in San Francisco, California, in 1973. Their hits include a series of power ballads and rock songs, including "Don't Stop Believing", "Any Way You Want It", "Faithfully", "Open Arms", "Send Her My Love" "Separate Ways", "Wheel in the Sky", "Who's Crying Now", "Stone In Love", "Lovin,' Touchin,' Squeezin;'", and "Lights". The group enjoyed a successful reunion in the mid-1990s with a major Grammy-nominated hit, "When You Love a Woman." Throughout Journey's three decades of existence, their albums have achieved gold status twice, platinum status three times, multi-platinum plateau eight times, and Diamond one time. They had 18 Top 40 singles, six of which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their signature song, "Don't Stop Believing", is the top-selling catalog track in iTunes history, at more than two million downloads. According to the Recording Industry Association of America, Journey has sold 47 million albums in the United States, making them the 28th best selling band of all time. Their worldwide sales have reached 80 million albums. A USA Today opinion poll in 2005 asked respondents to weigh in on who they thought was the best American rock band in history; Journey came in fifth place.

The show was a lot of fun. Met some really nice people and saw some friends from work there too.

The venue is pretty cool. It's just a flat floored, carpeted room with movable chairs. They're padded, but who sits in them anyway? And there is a bar right in the back of the room. It's a new addition to WinStar, and from my understanding, a huge upgrade.

It was especially cool to hear Majestic live, When You Love A Woman, and Deen singing Keep On Runnin'.

I don't have a setlist, and haven't found one posted. It wasn't a very long set really, they played for about 95 minutes.

Arnel sounded great, he just keeps getting better and better. The band is tight as dicks hatband, but the sound for me wasn't the best. At times you couldn't hear Jon's piano, and at other times, you couldn't hear Neal's guitar. I don't know what the deal was except that it's a small room and Deen's drumming overpowered the sound maybe? He's a monster on the kit, and a lot of fun to watch.

Arnel took a few leaps off the drum riser, and I swear his feet were above Deen's head on a couple of the jumps. He's a damn good showman.

I have pictures and videos that I am going to upload when I get a chance. There was a strict no camera policy enforced there, so some of the videos are cut short. Everyone was using cameras, so I figured I would too. Had one of the goons flag me down and make me put it away. And Gunbot, I have the Texas Plates video for you, here.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Aww, so sweet Rick. I hope your daugher, enjoyed the show. The crappy sound seems to be a running theme with them lately, probably comes from trying to contain a rock band in a little casino showroom.

Thanks Rick. It sure took you long enough. j/k

Too bad about the sound, but sounds like a good show regardless. I'm all for those casino show, since I love the venues and I always try to stay at the casino as well. Those make for some great weekends. :D :D

How did your daughter enjoy the show? Did you get a typical teens  ?

No, she's a daddy's girl. She had a great time. She did give me a "shut up" look one time when I was singing though.

That's awesome Rick! Thanks for the video. I hate to say this, but I would rather have Deen on lead vocals than Arnel. He vocals seem just a little thin in the high registers, but his voice has a better texture to it (in my opinion anyway). He always sounds great!

Nice clip, Rick. Thanks for sharing. :)

I guess that clip shows my point in Debbie's thread about the band's lack of energy compared to their performances of the 70's and 80's. Not trying to start a feud here, just using this a a comparison point. 8)

Deen amazes me with his ability to 'bring it' vocally while playing the drums so hard. That in itself is such a cardio workout that you'd think he'd be too breathless to sing as well. I really enjoy his performances. 8)

About the last minute of Never Walk Away.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KO2QeM7yn-4

A really good solo by Neal, featuring "America" or "My Country Tis of Thee", not sure which title is correct.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfvhY0u8hm8 Not sure what happened to the video, but you can hear it.

Stone In Love - Same problem with this video. It doesn't kick in until it's nearly over. My computer is not rendering video correctly for some reason.

Remade this video, so the url is different now.

Thanks for the review, Rick. My friend said the same thing after attending a few shows this year, that Arnel is even better than last year. Sounds like you and your daughter had a great time. Nice memories for you two. I don't know what a "dick's hatband" is, but glad to know the band is that tight.

Discounting that bastardized Colors of the Spirit intro, only two Rev Songs? Well, at least you got WYLAW.
