that the "Zoo" has ever had! Just saying.  He did a great job with them covering all those classics. I sure wish he would have joined Survivor, because he sounded better on their stuff than Journey's. Don't you agree? :D

Jim, I always thought Arnel wouldve been PERFECT for Survivor. His Zoo covers of that music is great.

That's the thing, I think Arnel is a really good singer, he just took on an insurmountable job. When I hear him do other covers, I like it, when he does Journey covers, I'm always let down and it's not his fault.

At first I was just happy to the Journey music go on. Now, unless it's with SP, I don't want to hear it anymore. That's just me.

I agree, Arnel is a good singer. There's no denying that.... but let's just leave the Journey tunes for Steve.

Actually he did good with The Police and Sting. Did you ever hear him do Roxanne?

I so agree with you on this one. Leave the songs to SP, which we won't have to worry about too much longer, Journey working on a new one without the old songs in the lineup. Yay!

Not even close! Anne is in the same category (to me anyways) as Steve Perry, and is irreplaceable. He would sound MUCH better than Survivor's new singer though. That's a combination I'd like to hear!

It has to be more satisfying to be an originator, rather than an imitator, I would think. Journey should be the last gig Arnel has where he living someone else's legacy. The next step, if any is going back to the Zoo band and enjoying his retirement with casual performances.

He's probably a gazillionaire by their money standards already. I'm sure he'd be just fine if it all ended tomorrow.

Exactly. He already bought his house. He's good to go. This tour has not only been tough on him but his wife and kid also. People thinking it's nothing but endless shopping trips and good times don't know what it's like living out of a suit case (Believe me, having time in an SOS unit, I know how it feels). With the rumors about he band hitting the road again next spring, it's obvious they have learned nothing from the past. Even this year's tour was supposed to be shorter than last year's but keeps getting extended. Stepping down isn't the issue and never was, not even with Augeri, it's the incessant touring, always having to do one more show. That will be Journey's bane in the end.

I like Arnel's singing. I'll be happy if they do release a new cd with all new music, no SP songs for him to cover.

I imagine if you have money life over there is paradise. There are many beautiful places and some beautiful homes, mostly owned by corrupt politicians or celebrity affluent.

Having access to a decent water supply is the big problem there, TB is rampant. Another issue is traffic. My niece has a house in Bulacan but rents an apartment in Manila and only goes home on the weekends. It's that bad. I'm holding the deed for a house in Baguio as collateral for a loan I made to a friend but I really don't have any desire to set up a domicile over there. That's another thing, the loan was for his father to have heart surgery, cash in advance for medical service is not something I want to deal with either.

There are workarounds for most of the problems you mention. Water can be reserved up. There are veterans medical services there. Not too concerned about traffic in Cebu or Boracay. We'll be retiring over there in about 10-12 years.
