I think Va Tech beats Bama in the Ga Dome...new Tide QB...big game to start the season, and never started before.

I went to BR back in the 90's. It wasnt a good experience. No offense to you or any other LSU fans on here because most of yall are cool as hell, and this is the same issue as most big schools, especially here in the south but that night was horrible. Guys rode by in their car and slung some wet nasty shit water all over my wife and I walking. I was cursed out and shit thrown at me all night. I was warned by police for a fight that I didnt even start.....and then the game started!
Got back to the car later that night and my antenna was bent over and LSU stickers all over my windshield. This is all no shit, I wish it were.
I said then if we get out of there alive it would be my last trip.

BTW-it was 1997, the year after our first National Championship. LSU was on fire that night and they beat us 28-21. Doug Johnson was our QB, and I think he threw more completions to LSU guys that Florida guys. It was our first loss of the season.

True, true. I forget that. USC schedules decent OOC games every year it seems.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. I know that kind of thing does happen, and even though it's very much not the norm, it does end up tainting the whole school.

One thing that might make for a better overall attitude now is that LSU is actually winning games (as opposed to the 90s). :)

If you do decide to come (maybe slip in incognito), I promise the group I hang with doesn't roll like that, but does have one of the best tailgaiting setups on campus - even been voted tailgaters of the week several times. You'd be more than welcome to hang out.

In the SEC word has always been LSU has the worst fans, as far as how they act at home towards other fans. Im honestly not trying to be insulting at all, I respect LSU a lot. After that October night in 1997 I have to say it may be true. But Florida, Tennessee and Georgia fans arent much better....when I go to games I really dont show my ass. I have fun....for some reason each time I step foot back on that campus I feel like its the 80's all over again....

I got no problem with trashtalking and what not as long as it's done in good spirits and doesn't cross the line (i.e. insulting the girl you bring to the game etc.), but at the end of the day it's still an entertainment event and you shouldn't have to worry about being threatened physically, vandalized, assaulted, etc. That kinda stuff is bullshit. I've been to Steelers and Bills games as a drunk Browns fan and I've been fucked with and fucked with people back, but it was all in good fun... no problems there, that's part of the fun in goin to away games.

What's it tell you when LSU won't play home games in the daytime? Nooo, they play the 500P game so there is more time to get hammered. I am sure alcohol intake is the primary reason why Gator was treated like an Abu Graib prisoner in Baton Rouge.

Ah - well, that doesn't excuse the behaviour, but it could explain it. First time LSU beat a #1 team - and it was Spurrier...

I can see folks getting a little over-excited, still though, no excuse for vandalism and physical assaults...

Good point. LSU does love those evening kickoffs, especially when its a big game. That one was at 6pm, I believe it was. I know it was well after 10pm before we got back to our car.

And you are extremely right-people got off on showing up Spurrier back then..hell, he egged it on. Remember the shirts that went around the SEC? Had the team colors and big letters that said on front "HEY SPURRIER" and on the back it said 'UP YOURS!!!" ???

No offense. I didn't adore Steve (still don't). Just thought the shirt was too funny. Wore it to a UT/UF game one year.

Another huge rivalry-doesnt get the same respect as Mich-Ohio State, Army-Navy, Florida-Georgia or Texas-Oklahoma but its an intense game. Utah wins BIG this year.

Have you not heard the news or read ESPN.com?

Michigan is now a 1AA school.

I see you added...you had me at a loss for a moment!!

I see you getting used to the word, "loss." That is the first step in accepting the University of Michigan Football season.

Loss, loss, loss, loss, win(over Indiana), loss, loss, loss, win (over C Michigan, loss and loss.

I'm not some googly-eyed girl living in la-la land...I know how DIM things appear for the "M"...
I'll be seeing you in THIS thread!!!

Has anyone done a study of how each school ends the season (say over the last 10 years) compared to where they were ranked in the bogus preseason poll? That would be interesting to see.

I just did.

Look this is coming down to UF, USC, either Texas/OU and maybe say a Cal or Ole Miss, possibly an OK St. Ohio State sucks, Penn State is playing a high school schedule, Alabama may have a shot if they take care of Tech, but my 2 on the NC stage is UF v SC, and I will pull for UF. I hate SC.
