I was looking forward to the show but with that lord-awful setup, no way. We didn't stay. Rockford is closer... we should have planned on that to start with if we'd had our schutt together. Kinda late now. :? Next time 'round.

It was the grandstand that they use for things like equestrian events, so no seats, just bleachers - people sitting on each others' laps practically, plus it's really wide - too wide... (really bad view). For me, I need an actual seat. It was really HOT and really packed so no room to even spread out a little. Uh uh no thanks.

This is maybe 1/2 of it (in the background):

That's because you can't see Azoff immediately off camera, saying "Start Smiling, Leonard".

Or maybe he saw someone with a "Friga PLEASE!" t-shirt on? I should make one with an iron-on transfer and wear it tomorrow night - LOL! It would be priceless if I could get a picture of me next to Friga while I'm wearing it.

Yeah, I hate those fairgrounds setups... it's always much better weather and acoustics in an indoor show... except for maybe RedRocks. Heart is playing here in Springfield next week at the Fair, but I'm not going. I'd rather see them with Journey in an indoor venue in Rockford. I guess the State couldn't afford Journey this year for the State Fair... their pricetag must have gone up since they got Arnel, because we had them with Steve Augeri. I think that was right around the TapeGate era because his voice was shot. I cannot imagine trying to emulate Steve Perry at a hot muggy Midwest fairgrounds.

Thank you. You noticed that too. I'm claiming erroneous reports on Cain's attitude in Indy. Par for the course.

Whatever makes you happy Hobbes. I made no claims about anyone's attitude. I only spoke about what I saw. The other picture I took he had the sourpuss so maybe he was running 50/50 or maybe Neal goosed him and made him giggle briefly. I dunno. Maybe next time there will be an additional minute or so alotted to meeters and greeters and I can compliment him on his sweet melodic ivory-tickling and see if the interaction produces a favorable response.

I didn't think you'd want me to post the one of you dancing on the bar, flossing your ass with your pink tie and singing Copacabana, but I'll dig it up.

Voyager wrote:After watching this video that Isla posted from the Pala show on July 29th, I'm determined to see Journey on this tour even though they're not playing anywhere close to me. Arnel and the band are sounding better than ever right now! So I've talked a few friends into driving three hours upstate to Rockford, Illinois to catch them on Tuesday, August 18. Is anyone else planning to attend this show? Surely some of our Chicagoland forum members will be there?

I actually grew up listening to Ronnie Milsap, the Oakridge Boys, and Johnny Cash. Hence why I remain scarred to this day.

Funny, Ronnie Milsap's still looking for... ugh. No, a Ronnie Milsap 'looking for' joke is too easy. Nevermind. :P
