ALL YOU NEW FANS WHO NEVER WENT TO AN AUGERI SHOW OR PAID TO SEE JSS WITH THE BAND, YOU'RE DUMBFUCKS.
ALL YOU PEOPLE THAT WON'T BUY OLDER ALBUMS BECAUSE ARNEL'S NOT ON THEM, YOU'RE DUMBFUCKS.
ALL YOU STUPID PEOPLE THAT DON'T KNOW THE TITLES OF ALL THE SONGS THEY'RE PLAYING DURING THE SHOW, YOU'RE DUMBFUCKS.

Still a nice review though, thanks.

Love ya Trav, great review, but ending it with an F U to fans that aren't piddling their pants over this line up..............as Gbot said, kinda ruined it IMO.

Love ya too, Deb. I wasn't saying "HEY!! YOU!! ALL YOU NON ARNEL SUPPORTS! FU!!!!" No, just saying that it's a shame they will never feel what I felt last night.. and sad that some won't let themselves if they even wanted to.

You wrote a very enthusiastic review. Nice. But I'm curious just how much the amount of alcohol had to do with it? Don't get me wrong, drinks and concerts go hand in hand, but you yourself said that "I was so inebriated to the point where it wasn't funny"...
I'm sure Journey sounds great, I like Arnel and all, but I'm just wondering how accurate is the SHOW review itself. No doubt you had fun, so what I'm saying - is this a review of your fun or of the concert? lol

Side note: this pic could be inspirational material for TNC.

Like you said, this is the WHOLE point of a concert. I could be drunk as a skunk and still not enjoy a Lil Wayne concert. I probably wouldn't want to be completely smashed at, say, a Dream Theater concert... but Journey music? Chug the beers and crank the guitar, it's all about fun when you're there in person. You don't care about a slight accent issue at that point... you're havin a great time, as he seems to have had. I know I woulda had a great time, my small reservations w/ Arnel and the Eb tuning aside.

Some shows you can be smashed at and some you can't. When there is a killer band on stage hitting all cylinders sonically, you want to enjoy every moment of it (Journey 1981). When you need a little help believing that it's still as good as it was 30 years ago that night at the Philly Spectrum, bring on the booze (Journey 2009).

Young

I enjoy your enthuasium and love for this great band. I have given this lineup a chance with myself ( bought the new album and DVD and seen one concert with them locally and have several boots of the current tour ) and how they are doing awesome which I think is wonderful for them all esp Deen as he deserves some great times. I just cant wrap my finger around them now. I do wish them all the success in the world cause of their longevity in the music business. I have seen all versions of this band including the great one and like this one the least.

COnitnue to enjoy them and this wonderful band

OR you could just go in a room, turn off the lights, and pop in the CD and blast it as loud as it goes. Bet me any money someone would think the vocals "stunk after the 4th song.."

Stop making sense, it's dangerous.
I enjoyed the show I saw last year but that was enough for me and playing in EB this year is just a little too much for me to spend more money to see.
In the same way, I can feel for people who never got to enjoy the early eighties with the band and the hoopla about Journey that was all over MTV and the radio. Unfortunately, that feeling can't be conveyed through DVDs and such for the newer fans, . For them, this current line up is their own version of the good old days when Journey reigned supreme.
We got spoiled in the eighties, that's for sure.

 No worries there, I get that same rush every time I see JSS or EM perform LIVE. It's all good. :) But I get what ya mean, you're passionate about your favorite music too, and that's cool by me! Love seeing other people at shows just lose themselves in the music too. :D

I will be seeing Foreigner later this month. Like I did with Journey last year, I need to see them with Kelly at least once live before I can give an unbiased commentary about them.

Not to try and derail this thread but here is what the perception is from one fan when Journey changes up the classics and plays new songs:

Confused
Friday, August 21, 2009 - 6:56 am - stash
This was my third Journey show, each with a different lead singer. This show was a little different. High energy, hard rocking, almost a too hard for ancient Journey fan wanting to hear the powerful vocal ballads the band is famous for. Arnel, well your a great singer. I've followed your progress from You-Tube to the Ellen show. The band has it's Steve Perry sound-alike. Arnel has an endless amount of energy and the ability to work an audience. But, 35 jumps per song? I thought I was watching David Lee Roth? Also, it was disappointing that Neal and Jon have taken many of the Journey balleds and turned them into guitar riffs reminiscent of Egar Winters Frankinstein synthesizer solos.

However, Journey did rock the house. The crowd sat patiently through the long riffs and intros to hear the classics they have learned to love. Faithfully, Open Arms, Only the Young, and of course Don't Stop are more powerful than ever. Arnel hits every note right on. The new material was great, even though most of the crowd had never heard these song before. For a true Journey fan, the show was different than expected, but the music was great.

Heart was awsome. Ann Wilson's vocals had me mesmerized from opening to encore. Their songs are as strong as ever. The Wilson sisters have hit it. They ROCK!!! As I left the show and walked to my car I heard a young girl of maybe 14 say "mommy, I think Heart is better than Journey".

To both bands..thanks for coming to Youngstown. It was a night to remember.

This was a review that was posted on the Journey music website. You can't change anything with the casual fan and you wonder why they aren't playing deeper cuts. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Journey rocked too hard? Go see a Celine Dion concert, fucker!

As a general rule I don't enjoy gettin hammered AT a concert (afterwards is a different story...). But hell, sometimes you can't help it. It all depends on who I'm with.
