The band took time off with their families before working on their next album, Nine Lives, which was plagued with personnel problems, including the firing of manager Tim Collins, who, according to band members, had nearly caused the band to break up. The album's producer was also changed from Glen Ballard to Kevin Shirley. Nine Lives was released in March 1997. Reviews were mixed, and Nine Lives initially fell down the charts, although it had a long chart life It was followed by the over two-year-long Nine Lives Tour, which was plagued by problems including lead singer Steven Tyler injuring his leg at a concert, and Joey Kramer suffering second degree burns when his car caught fire at a gas station.
i've heard during this time in 1996 during the recording of the first attempt of the album nine lives that collins quit after seeing tyler do drugs and party with strippers in miami.there are two versions of the album nine lives.they weren't satisfied with the first so they left miami then got kevin shirley and redid the album.i remember this period clearly and remember the accusations and i'll be honest i thought colins was lying at the time.thirteen years later i believe collins was truthful.he always told the band he would quit if any members were on drugs or lying about it.also notice thirteen years ago the band was having a buch of mishaps....just like now.strange but true.

I'm thinking Liv must have enjoyed the notion that Rundgren was her father. Tyler seems like a lost cause.

You know, you'd like to believe that people who have been in the game as long as Tyler could spot the those demon hangers-on who are likely to lead them (back) down this path a mile away, and steer clear. Sadly, that appears not to be the case.
Ain't nuttin' changed...
