If I went out, bought a gun, came back, gave it to you and said 'shoot me', should you really be charged with murder?

Wrong. A doctor is held to a higher standard. This was a doctor who abused his privilege as a healer, needed money to support his lifestyle, and sold out to be a junkie's personal pharmacy. He should pay for it.
I don't get your analogy anyway. Yes, I should be charged with murder if I shoot you no matter who buys the gun.

Dream on...we live in the world today. It's getting weirder and weirder out there.

Yes, and breaching his professional standards he swore to uphold and numerous laws.
Sorry but this is patently absurd logic...

Have to agree -- doctors have a huge responsibility, and shouldn't be up for sale like so many seem to these days. That any doctor would regularly administer Propofol as a home sleep aid shows a complete lack of judgment or ethics and is the height of corruption. He should be charged with at least involuntary manslaughter if not murder.
I used to have a lot more respect for doctors until I had my own issues with one who kept feeding a family member's addiction for YEARS past the point that they were hurting themselves on a regular basis. Unusually accident prone, but also faking injuries and other symptoms to get painkillers, Xanax, whatever. Everything he prescribed, even down to cough syrup with codeine, was addictive or was being abused. He blew off repeated phone calls and letters from family trying to address the problem, but finally talked with us and agreed to stop prescribing those meds. We found out months later after they'd hurt themselves again that he never quit prescribing those meds -- they were just going to a different pharmacy to fill them, and we had no choice but to turn his sorry ass into the state medical board to protect our family member. That stopped that crap right away, and he has that on his record now.
The medical professional has changed, and medical schools today are heavily influenced by the pharmaceutical industry. Doctors don't seem to learn how to heal people anymore -- only how to write prescriptions for symptoms. It's a corrupted profession filled with self-serving jackasses. Now I love my general practitioner. He actually sits down and spends time having a conversation with me on the rare occasion I have a problem, and he has an uncanny knack for pinpointing the issue. But I don't even fill half the prescriptions he gives me, and I do fine.
Even if you have a great doctor it pays off to be a skeptic and do your own research -- I just don't take everything as gospel like I used to.

Spreading lies about people is low, spreading lies about dead people is trashy!

I don't think, were he alive, that he would have been able to resist the urge to sit up in his coffin at the memorial services. New thriller album on the way?
