Someone posted that they heard them rehearsing WCTNGOF. Can't remember where I read it. We'll find out soon enough.

I don't know why they would play a 20 year old ballad when they've got TDTWT and WIN fans waiting to hear those songs for the first time.
Even the polls on Arnel's site don't rank that particular ROR cut very highly.

How about a new song for the TRON soundtrack?

Please let it be someting else than WCTNGOF for the love of god they keep going in reverse!!!

Reverse? Those are JOURNEY'S songs. Jonathan Cain came up with that song.

Jana.........how long ago was it recorded??? there is new material that should be used and you know it

Actually I don't know it. If he could pull it off I would love it. That's only if. That song has never been heard live by the majority of fans. Put a lot of classic songs in, in place of BGTY or LTS, that that have not been heard live often, and we fans love it. Sure, I want WIN, but I woud like other songs from the classic era, too. Take out BGTY or LTS. But there's tons of songs I would still love to hear from earlier days as a Journey fan.

Just like as a U2 fan I love their older hits mixed up with deeper cuts and just like TFF I love their older music mixed up in concert, not just Shout, but deeper cuts, and mixed with their new album, which they usually play three new songs in 90 minute concert b/c that's the way the fans basically dictate it.

Journey is playing three to four new songs in concert depending on length of show. I have no problem with three new songs in a 90 minute show. My beef is get rid of some of these same old loser songs I don't like they play every year and give me Stay Awhile, Chain Reaction, Precious Time, People and Places, When You Love a Woman, and, yes, What I Needed, on and on.

I think you got my point.....I am just sayin that song is a huge undertaking(and it should be done justice IMO), and you are not classified as a casual fan by any means...and IMO none of Journey songs are loser songs.....but then again I should have stayed out of this thread due to the title.....I think we are off topic....sorry for the derailment.

Regarding WCTNGOF, I don't think even Perry would be able to pull off those high notes at the end with out turning it into garbage in a live setting. Those notes are what makes the song, hence the reason it was never attempted during the ROR tour or the FTLOSM tour. I will give them points if the try the song but if it doesn't come off great, It better not find its way to youtube.

Walks Like A Lady? That was Lori's request. That might be something to check out. Definitely different for sure. One of my favorites off of Captured. Maybe Lori can even saunter out there and dance to Neal's solo.

I think Arnel could probably pull it off if they let him, its not like something off of Infinity. That said, If they did do it now, it would probably be tuned down anyway, so it wouldn't be the same.

Yeah, it would be. I don't like how Faithfully sounds tuned down and WCTNGOF has a similar structure, it's almost like those two songs are connected.

IDK Eric, none of his peers thought highly enough of him to put him in the top 100. What does that say about Schon?

You're constant degrading of Journey the last 2 years has come amid their resurgence. You sound ridiculous.

I sound ridiculous? Why, telling my thoughts of a band as opposed to the always rose colored glasses that you and the pom pom crowd wear daily? What's ridiculous is you and your buddies here saying journey are the best ever this and the best ever that. YOU are the one that sounds fucking ridiculous.

And resurgence? Dude, they had a nice little tour and a gold album. Whoopdee shit.

HOOOOH...well they're more successful than when you said they were great and loved them when Schon let you shine his shoes.

Many of us are critical of certain elements of Journey....but all in all things are pretty good in Journeyland these days. You are bitter over the JSS thing so you rail on them any chance you get...and its getting old.

Now go get your fucking shinebox (and try to toss Silvio's salad now)

I would prefer that they just do more new material or (and I know its beating a dead horse) something off of Arrival.

Listen up fuckhead-

When I was with them, before they ripped off all their fans money by faking concerts, I was into them and rightfully so I might add. I was a fan. Then we got stabbed in the back by a band that faked its way through 2 hour "live" shows. Then when they all admitted it to me, they then turned around(Cain, Schon and Valory), and told the printed press in Europe and radio press here, that the fans in question were alcoholics, and drunks, and drug users. Then Valory said I was demented. Real good guys there huh? As for the JSS thing. No, I could care less he was fired. Hell he would have been fine with it too, had they been professional about it. It's a fucking business, but whatever happened to doing it right? Sure I was bummed, but looking back now, I am happy as Hell he got out when he did. Those douchebags didn't even call him to say "thanks" for helping us out. Then enter the idiot Pinheads and their myopia and nauseating praise for a guy who has never written a top 50 song. That was the final nail in coffin for me. As for me being bitter, I don't care enough about Journey nor do they matter enough in music for me to care about them. It just amazes me how so many here can forget about their shenanigans and go pay for tickets to see them. Just blows my mind. I'll rail them any Goddamned time I wish, and frankly, they need to hear the fucking truth. Things are great in Journeyland? What? Ok, great. Go sell out your 3700 seat theaters, make believe you sold a platinum album when it barely went gold, and forget anything bad you have ever done. The bottom line is these guys pissed on their fans, and they pissed on rock n roll, and hardly anyone here could care less. The only innocent body is Arnel Pineda. That guy is great, but sadly he is connected to the scummiest band on Earth.

I wish I was still a fan, I really do. However, when I see other bands out there doing right by their fans, respecting music and rock n roll, and busting their asses, it's hard to like, much less respect a band that does what Journey does. It's a shame too, because they have some talent. But when you have an evil sonofabitch leading you in Azoff and the dirt trickles down, flows through a loudmouthed fat road manager and then is embraced by a money grubbing guitar player and piano player, I guess they do in fact have chemistry.

As for Silvio, he is a weird SOB, but I can guarantee you he makes three times what Schon and Cain make, probably a lot more than that.

I think I've been very clear that Journey needs to keep making new music in order to keep me as a fan. If Revelation had been just re-records I would have stopped being a fan. But they continue to make new music - more than most bands supposedly busting their asses - so they keep me as a fan. They have an incredible catalog, put on a great live show....and the the new stuff is great (even though you refuse to listen to it, which is fine, but you aren't entitled to an opinion).

I get why someone would stop being a fan..the band has fucked up...but I don't get why someone who hates the band so much has to follow positive posts about them just to trash them. You are Journeytroll2 at this point Dean-O. And you're not even accurate anymore. To not give them credit for their success the past 2 years is what is myopic. Even calling it barely Gold is still impressive in this climate sans Perry...dontach think? And they aren't playing tiny theatres - you know that's not true.

Deep in the article about the 100 greatest guitarists of all time is this quote from Zakk Wylde,

"When I think of underrated guitarists, I go for some guys in really big bands - the ones who get overshadowed by the achievements of the act in question.
For instance, what do you think of when Journey are mentioned?
Great songs, amazing vocals, sure.
But who ever praises Neal Schon - and that guy can play up a storm"

I guess that is my answer to the opening question.
