Nothing I can say that hasn't been said. Sad thing any time there's a death. It's sad for the family that this should happen right after Eunice's passing, and as Rhi pointed out, with last month being the 10 yr. anniversary of John Jr. passing... sad.

He did give many years of service to his country...in service of the people and made a difference in several positive ways when he didn't have to.

I never even thought about that. Burying this guy in Arlington National is vomit inducing. The only difference is that her death was brutal, painful and without conscience. His was painless and merciful and that doesn't sit well with me.

Well, it's a shame when any family loses a loved one. I was never a fan of his politics, and I personally have a problem with someone spending over 40 years in congress, but he lost a battle with a horrible disease. I didn't realize he was as close to death as he was.

I find it interesting that just last week (I believe) "he" was requesting a change to the law that he helped get enacted regarding choosing his replacement. If he was as sick as it seems that he was in recent days, I find it hard to believe that he could've personally made that request. I doubt he was of sound mind to do so (not knowing about his case specifically, but knowing of his condition generally). I heard on the radio this morning that BO tried to talk to him in July, but he was 'not well enough' to take his call.

It seems a little off to me that someone else could request a change in the law in his name. It seems like someone was playing politics and not telling the truth. I hope I'm wrong.

As far as his history and what he's done in his life, he's now in God's hands, and therefore will have to face His judgement. I wish him luck.

I'm not hatin'. I wish his family well, I'm sure there are many people who love and will miss him. He did lead a far from controversy-free life, though. If we're gonna extol his praises for his life spent in public service, I think it's also fair to mention his questionable behaviors. There are some pretty harsh statements here, though. Controversial people tend to cause that I guess.
