My favorite Augeri song...

Postby G.I.Jim » Sat Aug 29, 2009 10:45 am

I haven't listened to Arrival (or any of the newer cd's) in a while, and when I saw this, I forgot just how much I liked him and the band when this came out! I like a LOT of songs he sang on, but my favorite song he sang was "Higher Place". It's a great, kick-ass song, and to me was one of Journey's highlights! My favorite clip of this song is from the dvd. Here it is...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtAyHeRj ... re=channel

I think this is my favorite obscure Journey song that he sang on. This doesn't even sound like Journey to me, but I really like it anyway! It's "Walking Away From The Edge". I know not many like this, but I've liked it since I first heard it. it was the ONLY decent song from Red 13!

Higher Place is a great song. Too bad Sony under-promoted Arrival. Higher Place could have turned people on to the post-Perry Journey. I thought Jack Blades was a great songwriting partner. A great vocal from Augeri and Deen's harmony vocals add great depth.

Walking Away From The Edge is another favorite of mine. Definitely fits the description of obscure. Wonder if there are any unreleased tracks laying around that are of a similar vein. I also liked Intro/State of Grace from Red 13. The artwork from the second version of the CD cover is incredible. The original artwork sucked ass.

Not available in my country due to copyright restrictions. What's that all about.

I think Walking Away From the Edge is a great song. A song that you need to listen to.

I agree with you! It IS a great song, and to me... it's one of the more traditional Journey songs on the album. I have to say though... I wonder what Perry would have sounded like on this song? :D

Had they put Steve's vocals out in front like Perry's on Separate Ways, that song could have charted. Instead, they buried the vocals and turned a pretty solid song into a mediocre one.

Honestly, I don't think Neal has anything to do with the post-recording production. Isn't that usually Shirley or Elson?
