Last time I met Jon he was really cool. He comes across as a really intelligent guy as well. I'm ready to fork over the $280 and buy you an ILAA pass next year. I wonder what the expression on his face would be when you rolled in there with your "Jon Friga N" shirt on and a fucking box of wine.

Who's playing at TSF? Escape? Or is it a Steve Augeri tribute band so you can swoon to Higher Place with a kiddie cocktail?

What don't you like ab Higher Place dipshit, it's got a nice heavy guitar riff or two, some great lead work from Neal, a killer harmony in the chorus... is it the verse?

That "madness left inside of me" garbage ruins the song. As do the sappy lyrics before it. The beginning sucks and the opening line is about as exciting as a fucking prostate exam (JasonD excluded  ).

Hey, he doesn't like "Faith In The Heartland" either... LOL! I love them both the same -- excellent, strong openers for a new disc and two of my top favorite Journey tunes.

I heard that Journey played "Higher Place" at one of the gigs last week I think, with Deen on vox. Would love to hear it live myself!

Remember Me
Higher Place
Livin' To Do
To Be Alive Again
We Will Meet Again
Walking Away From The Edge
Faith In The Heartland (Generations version)

...stand up with ANYTHING Journey has ever recorded.

(I actually enjoy The Time and The Place In Your Heart quite a bit as well, but those seven are the standouts from the Augeri era, in my opinion.)

I guess it was Arnel who sang Higher Place in Columbus instead of Deen. And Higher Place is at the very top of my list of songs I want to see that I've never seen live before. It's #1 for me.

Ahh, ok. I'd heard it was Deen from a Facebook post, but maybe the info was mistaken. Either way, wish I'd seen it!

Favorite SA uptempo: Higher Place, FITH (tie)
Favorite SA ballad: Beyond the Clouds

Hmmmm ... people have brought this point up before ... about SA being back in the mix ... made his voice sound weak, no power to it. Why did they do that? Were they covering up a weakness in his singing (so people couldn't hear it) or did they do him a disservice by muting his attributes.

Contrast that to the SP-sung tracks .... his voice is outfront ... with all its glorious nuisances (TBF in particular). Voice is unique, memorable ... in some cases (when he sang WCTNGOF), breathtaking.

Anyone?

Deen sang it (I think Tues) and Arnel sang it the next night.... VERY sad to have missed Both of them!

It's a great, kick-ass song, and to me was one of Journey's highlights! My favorite clip of this song is from the dvd. Here it is...

I think this is my favorite obscure Journey song that he sang on. This doesn't even sound like Journey to me, but I really like it anyway! It's "Walking Away From The Edge". I know not many like this, but I've liked it since I first heard it. it was the ONLY decent song from Red 13!

I wasn't paying attention to music much anymore during the Augeri-era, which is a shame. I remember hearing "Remember Me" back then and really liking it and thinking whoever that is they got as their new singer, sounds great. Someone gave me Arrival, and I really like it and have actually been listening to it quite a bit lately, Kiss Me Softly is probably my favorite. Will be neat if he performs that again next year to hear live.

Favorite AUGERI song....well, VERY hard to choose. He could sing the ABC's and I would love it.

I loved hearing him sing "If he Should Break Your Heart" live. Another favorite from a little farther back..."Somewhere she waits" :)

Live and Breathe. Awesome song.

Man, Arrival was a really, really good album. Far superior to Generations (and that's not a knock on Arnel).
