Still a complete moron, Mike? I don't talk to Ed, you idiot! I saw your name right here on MR a long time ago. Go ahead and ask Ed if I ever talk to him. I know you have your reasons to stay anonomous because if someone who you know..someone who you work for were to see what you post here and a few other places it would show your ass. You have every reason to be embarrassed by it.

Take it up with them.

Posting over and over again isn't going to make me respond with what I heard.

You are once again proving you are a ding bat.

You know the shit you have done.

It doesn't need repeated by me.

And oh by the way...I have a life...I don't sit on here 24/7/365 and rant and rave and cry.

Now be a good little liberal and cry about how you are being maligned some more ok? I rather enjoy watching you blather on and make an ass out of yourself.

You're the one who just made an ass out of yourself, Stu. You made an accusation that I have suppossedly done many things to Dan and now you can't back it up with facts. Either Dan is lying or you are and just threw him under the bus. I do believe Dan has lied about me, though...it would explain a lot and wouldn't surprise me a bit. That jackass doesn't know me at all and has never talked to me enough to have anything truthful to say . I haven't done a damn thing to him and I challenge him or you to prove that I have. Like I said...you make an accusation like that of someone you should be prepared to back it up with some provable fact.
And by the way, Stu...I'm an Independent, not a Democrat.
Just like I thought, motivated to run your trap and spew bullshit due to politics. You're an ass, Stu.

Does anybody think it's kinda funny that now that the shoe is on the other foot and it's obvious how poor a President Obama is, that the libs are now coming up with all kinds of excuses why he isn't? I closed my eyes on how poor Bush was as president when he was in office. I hope others will stop doing the same with Obama.

Yep, that Beck guy, imo. BUT anyone that differs with your viewpoint is crazy, right? So you must mean me. Call me crazy then because I don't think it's healthy for anyone to get their info from that guy. They should think for themselves....not think like some boob on the TV tells them to....actually preachs at them to from what I saw. I try to find info from reliable UNBIASED sources as best I can. If thats crazy, so be it.

Hey, your Dan's best bud so why don't you tell the people what I have supposedly done to him since Stu backed out. I'm still waiting to hear the bullshit. If your asshole friend is going to run his mouth on someone he had better have some proof to back it up too instead of just spewing crap. I have little tolerance for liars and I don't take being lied on well so I'm not dropping it.

Um, you might want to go back and re-read the last portion of this thread. Seriously Phyl, you are back to back posting to yourself, trying to call Stu out for a duke em up fight. Think about it, why do you think it is perfectly ok for you to "call someone" on their posts, but as soon as somebody "calls you" on yours......that's when you start going ballistic. Sorry, but I've always found Stu to be one of the more level headed posters on the board.

Well that's just the problem - the Republicans who delivered us unto this socialist mess would have you believe that it's not their fault. They gave greedy CEO's unlimited and unprecedented power and let them ship all the middle class jobs oversea's and then let them pilfer the vault and then take the public coffers as well... and in the end LET THEM TAKE BONUSES for ass-raping our entire county to death.

And what do we do? Elect more of them and expect them to fix it for us! HAS NO ONE BEEN PAYING ATTENTION?

We should be lining these sons a bitches up and hanging them one by one... every frakking Democrat and Republican who was running this show the last 20 years.

Zedul! Long time no see! How are you?

Anyway, I couldn't agree more...There are a select few that I trust and they aren't all Republicans OR Democrats. They are criminals, for the most part.

President Obama’s Address to Students Across America September 8, 2009

Dept. Issues To Do List: PreK- 6 Menu of Classroom Activities: President Obama’s Address to Students Across America

Produced by Teaching Ambassador Fellows, U.S. Department of Education

September 8, 2009

Description

Before the Speech:

• Teachers can build background knowledge about the President of the United States and his speech by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama and motivate students by asking the following questions:

Who is the President of the United States?

What do you think it takes to be President?

To whom do you think the President is going to be speaking?

Why do you think he wants to speak to you?

What do you think he will say to you?

• Teachers can ask students to imagine being the President delivering a speech to all of the students in the United States. What would you tell students? What can students do to help in our schools? Teachers can chart ideas about what they would say.

• Why is it important that we listen to the President and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress, or the governor? Why is what they say important? During the Speech:

• As the President speaks, teachers can ask students to write down key ideas or phrases that are important or personally meaningful. Students could use a note-taking graphic organizer such as a Cluster Web, or students could record their thoughts on sticky notes. Younger children can draw pictures and write as appropriate. As students listen to the speech, they could think about the following:

What is the President trying to tell me?

What is the President asking me to do?

What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about?

• Students can record important parts of the speech where the President is asking them to do something. Students might think about: What specific job is he asking me to do? Is he asking anything of anyone else? Teachers? Principals? Parents? The American people?

• Students can record any questions they have while he is speaking and then discuss them after the speech. Younger children may need to dictate their questions.

After the Speech:

Teachers could ask students to share their ideas they recorded, exchange sticky notes or stick notes on a butcher paper poster in the classromm to discuss main ideas from the speech, i.e. citizenship, personal responsibility, civic duty.

Students could discuss their responses to the following questions:

What do you think the President wants us to do?

Does the speech make you want to do anything?

Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us?

What would you like to tell the President?

Teachers could encourage students to participate in the Department of Education's "I Am What I Learn" video contest. On September 8th the Department will invite K-12 students to submit a video no longer than 2 min, explaining why education is important and how their education will help them acheive their dream. Teachers are welcome to incorproate the same or a simular video project into an assignment. More details will be released via ww.ed.gov

Extension of the Speech: Teachers can extend learning by having students:

Create posters of their goals. Posters could be formatted in quadrants of puzzle pieces or trails marked with labels: personal, academic, community, country. Each area could be labeled with three steps for achieving goals in those areas. It might make sense to focus on personal and academic so community and country goals come more readily.

Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed aat an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.

Write goals on colored index cards or precut designs to post around the classroom.

Interview and share about their goals with one another to create a supportive community.

Participate in School wide incentive programs or contests for students who achieve their goals.

Write about their goals in a variety of genres, i.e. poems, songs, personal essays.

Create artistic projects based on the themes of their goals.

Graphs students progress toward goals.

Sounds like propaganda to me.

there is nothing wrong with this, not at all. having students set goals and monitoring progress is something we do. having the president address the students directly and bringing home the importance of an education and community is great. that is not hijacking the school day, it happens to be right in line with the content of my lessons the first few days of the new school year. sad that parents would keep their children home causing them to miss the first day of school to avoid hearing the president speak.

I don't think it is bad at all that the President addresses the children of the USA. I think this should have been done long before now. Just hope he does it responsibly and doesn't put anymore pressure on the education system to teach only his philosophies. I hope he is going to speak on the importance of learning. They need that for sure.

If he is doing it only to promote his agenda, that could be deemed objectionable. I imagine the libs would have a bit to say if a Republican president were to do that as well. Imagine if GW would have done that? Holy cow.

there is nothing wrong with this, not at all. having students set goals and monitoring progress is something we do. having the president address the students directly and bringing home the importance of an education and community is great. that is not hijacking the school day, it happens to be right in line with the content of my lessons the first few days of the new school year. sad that parents would keep their children home causing them to miss the first day of school to avoid hearing the president speak.

If it's what they did with the arts community where the NEA, along with the White House, had a conference call where they asked the artists, musicians, etc., to come up with "projects" to help the government. This isn't something our government should be meddling in. It may appear benign, but it's setting off my radar.
