Planet3- Chicago fans check this out!!!

Postby G.I.Jim » Mon Sep 07, 2009 12:27 pm

Hey everyone,

Thanks to Duncan exposing me to some new music today, I'm now a HUGE fan of this band I somehow missed in the 80's. They were called Planet3. MAN I wish Chicago would have replaced Cetera with Jay Graydon after hearing these songs!!! :( He sounds miles above anything Scheff has done, and these songs sound amazingly like 80's Chicago. If you don't like that era of Chicago... don't even click on the links!

I hope you like them, and thanks for showing me these guys Duncan! :D

Here's "I Will Be Loving You".

"I Don't Want To Say Goodnight"- Probably his most Chicago-sounding song... My favorite!

This next song reminds me of Chicago, Mr. Mister, and Toto. There's something else in there too, but I can't think of it right now... Anyway, here's "Jenny Still In Love".

He was on a horizon expanding mission. He sent me some music by a band called Ya Ya. It's really good. He said they pretty much just disappeared around 1988.

I think you're right Brandon... I'm still learning about these guys. I'd never heard of them until yesterday, but MAN... I wish Chicago would have went with someone other than Scheff. He sounded good on a couple of albums, but his voice is too damn weak to carry the band. I wonder if that had some influence on Champlin's decision to leave?

Not to derail my own thread, but I wish Chicago would get a singer like that involved (or just get Cetera's ass back!), and team up with David Foster again! He is responsible for most of my favorite Chicago tunes. On the flip-side, I know there are several of you out there that HATED the 80's Chicago and would like them go back to their roots... You can all go back to the 70's, and let me have my dream!!!
