I can't help but put my two cents to this freakin discussion. Arnel's accent is distracting but are you people tone deaf?, damn NASAL shit Perry was letting out in every high notes is all out annoying. Even I can live with Arnel's accent but that baby seal being clobbered shit is all out BAD! Not because I'm all for Arnel but I never heard these guys sing before so my comparison is fresh and untainted, trust me I'll pay the six grand I paid (w/ friends help) for a sky box to see Arnel with Journey over and over. I swore to be committed to the end!

This is one of the more ingenious things I've seen from Journey. This is a great medley. Arnel does a great job on this.

Feelin' That Way/Anytime showed up in the setlist at the end of the tour last year. I think around mid-September. When I saw it in Chicago on September 12 it was one of the first times it was played with Arnel

To the contrary of this, many 40 and 50 something Filipinos have been listening to Journey way before Arnel hit the scene. My wife is from there and she has been a Journey fan since the late 70's. When I was there in 1991 her brother owned pretty much every Journey album to date. We were there for a month and during that time heard a lot of Journey on his stereo. Many of Arnel's country people are quite proud, and rightfully so. Some are so zealous that they give us the impression that they think Journey just began when Arnel was hired. But, I know many were fans way before that.

Yup most are younger fans but there are also people there who are journey fans since 78. In fact, One of the female moderator there have seen Perry/Augeri/Sotto and she is a solid journey fan.

Believe it. Before you arrived on the scene, Neal even posted here. Why wouldn't the band pop in here and see what people's reactions are to things they've done? Like SJ and Rick have said, this place is the best barometer of Journey fans that exists. It's certainly not Arnel's own website. Neal has become more and more technology friendly in recent years. This place is certainly, without a doubt read by people in the band.

They probably skip over the lame single-word threads and off-topic commentary, but I guarantee they checked out what people thought of the Patiently-Why Can't This Night Go On Forever combo. 100% without a doubt.

You'll be surprise, most cover bands in the Philippines covers mostly foreign artist. We love imitating these artist as if we owned their songs. When I was still there in the 70's and 80's, I love listening to these fuckers and believe me, you can't even tell the difference between the original and the imitator, especially when you're drunk. As I'm on a cover band myself at Shakey's in Manila, Journey catalogs is one of our favorites to perform as well as Eagles, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. That's why most entertainers they hired all over the world, (i.e clubs, cruise) are mostly Pinoy or Pinay entertainers. We are the entertainment capital in Southeast Asia.

The fact that they requested it means that they are familiar with it. I am an AP fan but I am slowly checking out the back catalogue of this band. I bought about 3 months ago the GH and the Escape Tour CD. I am sure the plokkers particularly those based outside the Philippines have already checked out the other Journey CDs. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them already own the entire Journey catalogue.

You'll be surprise, most cover bands in the Philippines covers mostly foreign artist. We love imitating these artist as if we owned their songs. When I was still there in the 70's and 80's, I love listening to these fuckers and believe me, you can't even tell the difference between the original and the imitator, especially when you're drunk. As I'm on a cover band myself at Shakey's in Manila, Journey catalogs is one of our favorites to perform as well as Eagles, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. That's why most entertainers they hired all over the world, (i.e clubs, cruise) are mostly Pinoy or Pinay entertainers. We are the entertainment capital in Southeast Asia.

We used to have American bases as well so to keep the American servicemen entertained, Pinoy bands had to cover a lot of American artists. They say that Pinoys got good at copying that they even copy the mistakes of some foreign artists. Some Pinoys are quite proud that we can almost cover anything.

huh? Why would he? It's not like the opinion of 2-3 dozen peeps are going to represent 1000's of paying fans to see them in concert? If he does visit MR I would guess it's only a couple of times per year.

They come here for logical feedback, ideas, and to gauge fan reaction. This place is as good a barmoeter of how they're doing as any, and they know that. Dean is 100% correct.

Sure they do read here. But in AP's shoutbox, many are also petitioning AP to sing Patiently and WCTNGOF.
AP said he wanted to sing these songs acoustically.... so there you go it was a bday gift!

Just a bit of a question, since most AP fans who post in the shoutbox were probably not familiar with these 2 songs at all as they are not part of the DD and I doubt most own Infinity or ROR, where did they get the idea to request these songs. Just from AP?

The fact that they requested it means that they are familiar with it. I am an AP fan but I am slowly checking out the back catalogue of this band. I bought about 3 months ago the GH and the Escape Tour CD. I am sure the plokkers particularly those based outside the Philippines have already checked out the other Journey CDs. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them already own the entire Journey catalogue.

It's taken a long time for me because I'm kind of OCD, which means I'll get into a CD and stay hooked on it for months, before I move on, but I've been working through the back catalog of Journey and more recently Steve Perry's solo music. It's caused me to miss out on a lot of new music that's out there that I need to get in touch with though.
