Journey Forum?

I voted no, it would end up like Journey s website and The Steve Perry Forum with people fawning all over them, how gross. Journey aint all that interesting by themselves, its the off topic shit, and personalities of the people hear that make s this forum good,not Journey,they are just a side note.Id rather it be called The Journey Forum but not at this risk of turning really gay

When you start at the front page you can hit the link to the forums but there isn't one to click on to go to the front page of the site if you start in the forums.

I do think a more accessible link to the forums from the front page would make it easier, and attract more attention to the boards. I know it's currently a "Quick Link", but with general resolution settings you have to scroll down a bit to get to it. I'd place a second link somewhere near the upper-left corner of the page -- maybe a graphic with a link attached to draw attention to it.

Here, Andrew could simply just make your MR logo a clickable link back to the main site page -- that would be easy and cool.

Here's how I feel... the more complex message boards are, the less likely the majority of members are to use the different areas. Most people naturally gravitate toward one or just a few areas, and those being the ones which allow the most range of topics. It makes it tougher to keep up with your threads without having to bounce back and forth so much.

As it is, I post most of my band or artist topics here regardless of whether that band/artist has their own forum or not. It's just easier, and I know this one gets the most traffic.

I wasn't really for separating out the Steve Perry section from the Journey section either, since he is a huge part of Journey history. But I can understand wanting to create a separate Journey forum which is all on-topic, and having a catch-all place for OT stuff like this one is. At most, I'd go with creating the separate Journey forum but add Steve Perry back into it. Maybe call it Journey / Steve Perry if you had to. Just keep it as simple as possible.

Finally you basically admit that despite Andrew's 6,000 warnings you never had any intention of staying on topic and heeding his wishes but rather using the Journey board as your own personal playground and Cain gay joke board.
In the Journey forum, Journey to you is a "side note" to your perseonal amusement and the board is all about the lengednary comedic and fascinating personalities who fill this place with scintillating posts.

You've won, you got this board at the top so why bitch about a separate band forum down the totem pole? Back when the board was in its REAL heyday when we had 20 or so people who talked, even brawled about JOURNEY ask Andrew how many lurkers the place had who read this thing all the time because they had real opinions to read and stuff they didn't know about the band.

Don't get me wrong, Steve I actually like it when you talk about the Augeri era records and tours I just have to sort through 5 Cain gay jokes and 4 posts about Carla's rack to get to something of substance.
I wonder if now despite this "great" mix of personalities and off topic bullshit you love the overall readership is down

Andrew, it makes no difference what the board is called. Folks will still posst what they want and fight with each other and discuss what they want....It is a fun board with fun people and I wouldn't want to lose any one of them...I just always skip the posts of people I don't want to hear from..

Most of are are slightly crazy any way ( I love the grammar police)

I agree with Rip put the forum back together Journey and Perry and put the both names in the title and then have a OT forum...the two really do belong together.

I didnt win shit .The people that you are talking about "back in day" either got banned or left for their own reasons,not of my doing. I signed up to this forum because of Journey..

weather you tag the Journey link ( e.g..Foreigner/ journey or Styx/journey ) with any other entities down there I will still visit that site, lurk and sometimes post.
why? coz surely all these flies that keeps on hovering that scarab will gonna be attracted to it. they will dip regardless because it is the way it is..Journey is there.

If this general forum for people who are [or were] fans of Journey stays at the top of the board, then I am happy for there to be a Journey only one as well.

As has been said, I joined here because I am a lover of Journey & Steve Perry but it is the off topic stuff which keeps me visiting so regularly.

I love all the off topic banter.
I love Andrew's style of management.
I love lots of people who post here.

If the Journey only one gets no traffic then the name of this one could maybe changed back to Journey Fans Lounge or something?

As long as this place is still here and all the regulars still post I don't really care what Andrew calls it.

I voted "Yes". After all, how can you have a site called "Melodic Rock" and NOT have a forum dedicated to the one band whose name is synonymous with melodic rock? Now, will it remain pristine and 100% on topic? C'mon, Andrew, you know us better than that - but we can certainly make the effort. Clearly, Journey forum numbers are a bit skewed by the addition of (waaay) off-topic threads about people's pets (almost) dying, peoples vacations, people getting sunburned, peoples wayward spouses, etc., and it would be interesting to be able to gauge just how much REAL Journey discussion is really going on.

Having a catch-all "Water Cooler" forum may resolve this issue (although I doubt it). :wink:
