i've seen a few people elsewhere mention that kanye was upset that a white person won. i must have missed something that happened before or during that incident, because i didn't notice color being brought up at the time.

i have no idea who russell brand is. he was ok, but i could have lived without his shouting.

i watched for the MJ tribute & joe fuckin' perry.

He didn't play the race card over it at all. No, he just said Beyonce's video was one of the best of all time insinuating Taylor didn't deserve it. I don't know where people get such speculative information from.

I've heard him on the radio a few times... he's better-known in Britain. He started as a stand-up comedian and has done a lot of TV in the UK. I first heard him interviewed on the radio maybe 2 months ago, and I thought he was really funny. Last night, with being scripted and everything, he wasn't as funny. (and yeah, way too shouty! lol)

There were other times Kanye has disrupted awards shows with this kind of bitching too - there was once time that was being discussed on the radio this morning where he was bitching because another nominee in one of his catergories won and he felt he should have won... but I didn't catch the example they cited, so I don't know which award show or when that happened.

Kanye was an idot and a bully. Pink told Matt Lauer this morning what would have happened to him if he would have pulled that on her. My sister read that at a party afterwards Kanye went up an apologized to Taylor's mother, and she told him her daughter was talented. And he said, that's exactly what my mother would have said. You know he's thinking his mother would have been so embarrassed by his bullying behavior if she was alive. He pulled stuff before but never interrupted someone's speech. Totally unacceptable. Beyonce is class.

Pink's performance was amazing, brilliant, unbelievable, totally rocked. For all those saying poor Britney can't sing and dance at the same time because it's too difficult, just watch Pink up in the air doing acrobatics singing live. A work of art on stage.

Re Serena, no way was that a career-ender. She lost her temper and was totally inappropriate and out of control with her remarks and has to do a mea culpa for a while, but will be fine in the long run endorsementwise.

MTV seems to basically encourage stuff like this, their security is really slow to remove people that try to get onstage (i.e. that guy from Rage Against the Machine drunkenly climbing on the set, some guy stealing the mic from Panic At The Disco to plug himself). It gets people talking about the VMAs, I'm sure they love the drama.

I love, love, LOVE LOVE Rage Against the Machine... but I really try hard sometimes to forget/ignore some of the stupid shit the members have either done or promoted.

I was going to post the exact same thought. MTV definitely enables this kind of stuff, and the VMA Awards have been more about tasteless controversy than the awards themselves for quite some time, even if it's just some rigged stunt like Bruno wrapping his butt cheeks around Eminem's face. I can't even take them seriously anymore. But the worst part is that they'd let an artist suffer in her moment like that and be humiliated on national TV by a jackass like Kanye. At the very least, they should issue a public apology and bar him from attending future shows. Like that'll happen.
